How about a numbered list of unrelated things? I haven't done one of those in a while!

1. As I said earlier, I put in an order with Ape for the two upcoming Fuzzy Warbles CDs. I was supposed to get a digital download with my order. The e-mail I got contained a link to the download, but it was only good for three hours, and I didn't realize this at the time. When I clicked it over three hours later, it said to contact them for the files. I tried e-mailing the address given in the message, but I still haven't gotten a reply. Any idea what I should do?

2. Lunchmeat is way too expensive at the Acme. Well, at the Acme in my area, anyway. Maybe it's cheaper near you. I wouldn't know. The point is, it was too expensive, so I didn't buy any. They were also sold out of the frozen pizzas that were on sale.

3. There seems to be a common thread in several world religions that we're living in an evil time, and that there was a golden age in the past when things were better. The latter strikes me as largely nostalgic, but as for the former, I sometimes do think the world, and humanity in particular, is pretty bad. Then, at other times, I decide they really aren't. I guess what I really believe is that good and evil are human creations, so it isn't really fair to apply them to the world at large. Perhaps it's more that the world is chaotic, rather than bad as such. But then, chaos is often linked to evil, and to the mythical beginning of the world.

Yeah, that philosophical stuff was mostly just to pad out the entry. How could you tell? {g}

4. I hate having hiccups.

Nathan, I have one word for you:
segue.

You mean to say that the part about the grocery prices being too high wasn't a segue into the part about evil in the world today?

Well, it wasn't INTENDED that way, but I guess that could work.

Eh, segues are overrated. {g} Since you mentioned it, though, I changed the post into a numbered list, so that it doesn't seem quite as disjointed (I hope).

But isn't that what the "Manage" button is for?

The numbered list thing works well for you.

Since I'm lazy, I'll reply to another comment on this one, as well.

Definitely put Take the Skinheads Bowling on the cd, for now I only have it on tape (and I'm not sure I own a tapeplayer any longer.) As for Cracker, I have Kerosene Hat, Garage d'Or, Forever, and Countrysides. I think I'll listen to Countrysides right now. hehe.

2> It's a shame you live so far away from the Amish markets. The lunch meat is very inexpensive and fresh (and don't get me started on all the cheese).

3> I thought Zoroastrianism (credited with influencing Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) had an interesting take on good and evil in the world. Basically, as I understand it, Ahura Mazda (the god of good) and Ahriman (the god of evil) are twins in a fight for the universe. The earth was created solely as a battleground in a 9000 year war between them. The first 3000 years, Ahura Mazda controlled everything and created everything good in the world. In the next 3000 years, Ahriman controlled everything and created all evil things as well as tried to destroy or corrupt everything good. We are now in the final 3000 years in which both hold sway. Our actions add support to one or the other, increasing their ranks and empowering them. When this period ends (in the late 2300s), there will be a great final battle between the two.

Okay, so that was a lot of backstory to say that they believe that we are not good or evil, but choose to lend our support to one or the other. Also, while they do believe in a better time, they also believe in a worse time.

2. Actually, there used to be an Amish market in my town, but it closed down several years ago. I heard somewhere that the owners of the farmers' market wanted them to work on Sundays, but I don't know how true that is.

3. I think some Zoroastrians actually thought the god of evil would win eventually.

Wasn't Freddie Mercury a Zoroastrian?

Yeah, Freddie Mercury is probably the best known Zoroastrian in the western world. I find some of their beliefs about nature to be fascinating.

Zoroastrianism, I guess, is at least slightly more optomistic than Norse Mythology. Now, that's depressing: if you die honorably in battle, you get to sleep until the end of time, when you rise up to take part in the final battle and die again as everything is destroyed.

I've heard that some versions of Norse mythology had the dead warriors living in Valhalla, where they would spend all their time fighting each other and eating. Still, yeah, it's a pretty depressing fate that the Vikings had in store for everybody.
