vovat | Somebody's Getting Married

Today (well, I guess technically yesterday at this point),

bethje's cousin Dorothea got married. She'd been dating the guy she married for some time now, but I'd only met him once before. Anyway, the wedding started in the morning and ended in the afternoon, but I actually had to leave early because I couldn't get the day off from work. I ended up being late for work anyway, due to heavy traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike. There's just no way to plan for things like that. During the ceremony, Dorothea's friend Eileen sang "One Hand, One Heart" from West Side Story, because a wedding is the perfect time to think of well-choreographed teenage street gangs rumbling. :P The music was provided by a guy with a guitar, and I have to question why he played so many songs about affairs. Oh, well. I must say I enjoyed the appetizers, which included meatballs in mushrooms and shrimp wrapped in bacon. Beth mentioned how she wasn't really hungry for her entree because she'd filled up on appetizers and bread, but the way I see it, that doesn't matter if you're not paying for the food. The entree I had was chicken in a lemon butter sauce, which was good, but not AS good as shrimp wrapped in bacon. Beth had filet mignon that she ordered medium rare, but arrived well done anyway. My theory is that they only asked how people wanted the steak cooked to provide an illusion of choice. I had to leave before the cake-cutting, but that's okay. I wish the two of them happiness in the years to come, and all that trite stuff.
