According to this post, there's apparently a They Might Be Giants tribute album in the works, with Frank Black contributing a track. (I hope he covers something other than "Particle Man.") Sounds pretty cool, if it is indeed true. I'm not sure what I think of David Miller's comment about making TMBG songs appeal to "indie audiences" who don't currently like them. I mean, sometimes a cover CAN make someone realize how good a song is, even if they don't like the original performer's rendition. It would be good if people would recognize the Johns as songwriters, even if they don't like their voices/instrumentation/whatever. Isn't it usually fans who buy tribute albums, though?

Speaking of Frank, he recently had his first son. Here is a picture.

Hey, it's true! I WAS a loner in high school! I still am, really. I'm a nerd, too, but I'm more of the antisocial kind than the kind who hangs around with other nerds.

Accurate in some ways, I suppose, but why is emo so high? Just because I don't think emo kids should be shot on sight doesn't mean I enjoy their music. Oh, well. At least the style of this quiz was something different.

That's pretty cool... I know a few years (like, 1998?) there was one in the works, and I think some stuff had even been recorded. I know Reel Big Fish was on that (which probably explains the "lawyers" comment, and, um, also why RBF is listed, despite not having a career since, what, 2001? I know Cheer Up come out about 2002 or so, but that album tanked, mainly because it sucked), too. So... yeah. Anyway, though, I'd be totally wanting to pick it up, especially since from the tracks listed, it sounds like they're going with some of the more different songs of the catalog than just "Here's the singles! Done by shittier bands!" like most tribute comps seem to be. And it sounds like a pretty cool mix. I would totally like to hear Steve Burns' "Dead". And the Trachtenburgs' "Fingertips". Because the Trachtenburgs are _awesome_.

If it makes you feel better, I got *equally* indie and emo. I admit i used to like emo a lot, not so much any more, but I think my high results just came from agreeing that music should have to do with feelings, and also disagreeing that all emo kids be shot on sight.

sorry about the double post.

Apparently people who don't like emo have to be violent.

I think the music/attitude connection is kind of silly anyway. I think I've already ranted about that recently, though, so I'll spare you another such rant. {g}
