[livejournal.com profile] bethje and I saw two concerts last week. The first, on Thursday, was Peter Tork with Shoe Suede Blues, whom we'd seen a few months ago. On Friday, it was Ben Folds Five. While we'd both seen Ben play solo a few times, we never got to see him with the Five, and weren't sure we ever would. Now, however, the three of them are back to recording and playing concerts together, at least for the time being, and we saw them in Central Park. It was a great show, despite our having to sit on bleachers (which, mind you, were the best seats in the venue). They played a combination of stuff from their new album and older songs. While I didn't know the new songs, I can't say there was any noticeable drop in quality. Beth bought their new album at the concert, so I'll probably say a bit about it once I've gotten the chance to listen. Robert Sledge played bass guitar most of the time, but did bring out the upright string bass for a few numbers. The opening act was some folky Australian duo, which I can't say was particularly memorable.

After Friday's show, we ate at the Shake Shack for the first time, and it was pretty good. It's mostly hamburgers and hot dogs, and we both enjoyed their shakes. We might go back there at some point if we're ever in the right area. Well, one of several areas, since there are a few of them in New York City.

What else? Well, I finished a few books this weekend, and I'm waiting for a few more to come in at the library. In Dragon Quest VI, I finished gathering the legendary equipment and reached Stormsgate Citadel, where I was promptly killed by Dhuran's henchmen. Guess I'll have to try that part again.
