[livejournal.com profile] bethje and I have moved more of our stuff into the apartment in Secaucus, and we have a bed now, so it's starting to feel more like home. We still have to bring up all the big things, though, like dressers and desks and such. We need to hire some movers, but not this weekend. We haven't figured out what to do about transporting the pets, either. Also, we have no tables or chairs, which would be convenient additions to the household. And no cable yet, which means no Internet connection. So it still needs work, but it's coming along. Beth's mom came up with us yesterday to clean the place, which was a pretty difficult chore. The apartment is actually the first place in which Beth and I are living without anyone else. I kind of wish we could have done that earlier, as now we seem to have reached the stage in our relationship where we mostly just get on each others' nerves. Oh, well. If I just didn't have to worry about finding a job, I'd be doing pretty well.

Driving in Secaucus is kind of annoying, because it seems like ordinary roads will sometimes just turn into highways. I won't say "without warning," because there usually is some warning, but not quite enough of one for someone not familiar with the streets. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually, but so far it's been rather frustrating. There are also a lot of one-way streets, which can make driving through town sort of a maze. Not to mention that having stop signs only for the cross-streets doesn't always cut it, because it can be hard to see if anyone is coming. I guess it just wasn't really made for driving, but I'm sure I'll continue doing so anyway. Actually, I've walked Beth home from work a few times, but it's exhausting.
