I guess that's my problem. I never drank at all until I was in my mid-twenties. I think there might be some people who are legitimately carefree even when sober, though. I kind of envy these people, but I also have to suspect they're paying even less attention to the world around them than I am.

Thanks for your post on Rackham. He was one of the reasons I wanted to be an illustrator. I loved his Alice.

And, yeah, why is it that, at least in what is deemed "literature" (pronounced through the nose as "litt-tratt choor"), illustration abounds only in that directed to children?? Graphic novels are very popular now, and illustrated by some very talented people, but it is not taken seriously (yet) by the literary world. Stupid. I guess it doesn't help that some of that stuff is soft-pornish, but, who cares, if the story is good and it doesn't foment rape?

You're welcome. And I don't know that there are any more soft-porn graphic novels than there are regular novels. It's just that people tend to react more strongly to pictures in that respect.
