Another Conan O'Brien show last night, this time at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia (or, to be more specific, Upper Darby). [livejournal.com profile] bethje had bought tickets to both this one and the New York show around the same time, and neither of us really wanted to go last night. Beth figured it would be disappointing after the guest-filled New York performance. We tried to sell the tickets, but there were no takers, and we were far from the only people trying to do so. Of course, some of those sellers were the scalpers who show up for just about everything despite not even knowing what they've bought tickets for. So we ended up going to the show after all, and it was fun, if mostly the same as the one we'd already seen. There were a few subtle differences, however, like Conan coming out in a Flyers jersey, which he ended up throwing into the crowd. The bit with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart was replaced by a segment with Andy Richter telling us what he'd learned. The musical guest was Trey Anastasio of Phish, who suddenly made me think maybe Vampire Weekend wasn't so bad. For anyone who attended other stops on this tour, did Conan have any GOOD musical guests? On the positive side, however, we did get a surprise appearance by Tina Fey, who's originally from Upper Darby. I didn't think to bring my camera, unfortunately, but she pulled the Walker, Texas Ranger lever. The Walker clips were all the same as the ones used in New York, but I think they were shown in a different order. Also, I appreciated that the dubbed-in, city-specific parts of the Triumph video referenced local NBC weatherman Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz.

ETA: Here's a video of Tina's appearance, courtesy of this page:

i think spoon was the musical guest at erin's show.. i'm not sure about any others; i haven't heard all the guest lineups but that's all that stands out. tina might even be the first female celeb guest, too.

I don't know a lot about Spoon, but what I have heard of them makes me think I'd definitely prefer them to most of the other acts I've heard of on that tour.

...I LIKE Vampire Weekend....

also; the Seattle shows were instantly sold out, but finding out that the musical guest was Dave Matthews made the pain hurt a little less.

But they don't care about proper comma usage!

Kind of weird that Dave Matthews would be the guest when they mocked him during the Triumph bit. (Well, I guess they actually just mocked his audiences. Triumph said something like, "You usually have to go to a Dave Matthews concert to see this many white people!")
