I just read a really nice-- well, "nice" as in "I wanted to take it home to make my conservative-talk-radio-brainwashed husband read it," not like it was beautifully written or anything-- piece in I think it was Discover magazine in the doctors' office on Thursday, a balanced interview with two of the scientists who get invoked in much of the political global warming debates. Straightforward answering of issues brought up. I mean, I really should have brought it home for J to read, but I didn't think stealing from the doctors' office was really morally balanced out by the likelihood of J getting less stubborn enough to read it with an open mind. See, the thing that really bugs me about J and his conservative-talk-radio brainwashedness is that he has always been a science guy,* and he CLAIMS he doesn't believe in global warming because it is "bad science." This article, in a non-partisan scientifically-sided way, showed otherwise, while still acknowledging all the claims of "bad science" made against it, so I wanted to be like "Look! REAL scientists take talk radio hosts' accusations with a grain of salt!"

*(Which is also why it bugs me when he says stuff like "liberal bias in the schools." Doesn't he realize that the people who talk about liberal bias in the schools are talking about things like TEACHING EVOLUTION?!?!? Hello, Mr. Science, wake up!)

I'm not entirely sure how evolution came to be a liberal idea, anyway. I mean, I know basically how it came about, but not why being conservative in today's world often seems to entail being anti-science.
