It occurred to me that they may be releasing Percy Jackson during the Olympics ON PURPOSE, to capitalize on the word. I can't figure out why else they'd release a fantasy-adventure in the off-season.

Not that I don't already find the trailers worrisome-- it looks like they turned it into a generic fantasy-adventure and lost the unique voice of the books. So, go ahead and fail, movie, if you like. The books trump you.

I'm going to wait until I see the movie before I judge it, but the commercials make the acting look pretty bad. Maybe the lines just don't work out of context, but it sounds like they're delivering them with no emotion whatsoever, like it's Twilight or something. And what's with that commercial that starts out with the news broadcast about natural disasters? The first few times I saw it, I thought it was an ad for 2012.
