Wait -- where are the first three chapters of your Oz manuscript? How did I miss them?

It's a fun read! You got the feel of Oz in there, complete with the little jokes, name play, and of course you always need your often mystifying talking animals and strange quests. I hope lots of our favorites will be showing up in the story!

Thanks! I can send you some more of the story, if you'd like.

I'd enjoy reading it -- I'm trying my best to carve out some more reading time. On a related note, I just ordered an Oz book from a used book store last night -- I believe it was The Giant Garden of Oz? Not sure if I got the title right, but the price was -- a little over a buck.

The Eric Shanower book? I like that one, and that's definitely a good price. {g}

What's your e-mail address? I can send you the entire manuscript, if you'd like.

That's the one -- I read a description and thought it was intriguing, even though I'll never be able to accept Dorothy in shorts! I was in one of those "do something for me" moods, what with the recent prostate difficulties and all. I'm at ozma914@verizon.net -- are you thinking of trying to publish this?

I'd definitely like to get it published, but I'm not sure how to go about that.

To be honest I'm not either, considering the special circumstances of it being an Oz book. You could self-publish, but the idea of the work involved in selling and distributing exhausts me. I haven't taken the time to research who, if anyone, is taking a chance on publishing Oz books in the last few years.

Yeah, I'm not sure I have the skills and patience to self-publish, but I might be able to get help from other Oz enthusiasts. I don't know. If nothing else, I guess there's always print-on-demand. It's too bad that Books of Wonder is apparently no longer running their Emerald City Press imprint, although they never published all that much even in their more prolific days.

That is too bad ... POD is a possibility, though. It's not as expensive, and Oz lovers should be able to help you get word out.
