Hey, it's another entry, and one with content that's hopefully more interesting!

As I'm sure you'll know if you've looked at the placemats at a Chinese restaurant, the Chinese zodiac is based on twelve-year cycles. Being born in 1977, my sign is the Snake. Interestingly enough, Frank Black is about twelve years older than me, making him a Snake as well. In fact, he alludes to this in "The Snake," a song on his most recent album. Another one of my favorite musicians, Andy Partridge of XTC is apparently twelve years older than Frank (and, therefore, twenty-four years older than me), making him a Snake as well. For that matter, I think Andy might also be a Scorpio, as I am. I don't put any stock in astrology, but I thought that was pretty cool. Of course, it doesn't work for all of the musicians I like. John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants is a Rat. John Linnell, contrary to Tiny Toons, is a Pig. (Well, I guess you could say that, although Hamton was Flans in "Istanbul," he was sort of Linnell in "Particle Man." Then again, I guess Dizzy Devil was also sort of Linnell in that video, since he played the accordion. This is a pretty pointless digression, though.)

I need to get back into the habit of flossing and using mouthwash after brushing my teeth. I used to do those things pretty regularly, and then I got lazy and stopped. Said laziness probably coincided with running out of one or both of these oral hygiene products. It's not like it's that difficult or anything.

Speaking of hygiene, can anyone recommend a good face cleaner? I use Neutrogena now, and it seems to work pretty well, but maybe I should try another product in addition.

for those of us who read the comic strip "Pearls Before Swine" this is incredibly amusing. :)

I use Clean and Clear astringent as facial cleaner, and Clean and Clear lotion afterwards. It seems to work pretty well.

hehe. It's cute to see a boy worried about facial cleansers. Aimee and I had a (male) friend in high school that made us buy his Clinique skin care products for him at Lazarus (a dept. store.)

I didn't use any facial cleansers for years. I have bad acne for someone my age, though, so I thought I should do something about it. It was actually Beth's idea, since I'm usually pretty ignorant of what to do about things like that.

What Neutrogena are you using? Make sure you're using something with 1) Salicylic acid, or 2)Benzoyl Peroxide. Also, you can use the facial pads like Stridex, and cream medications to wear at night. Salicylic acid has the added bonus of possibly delaying the creation of wrinkles.I think benzoyl peroxide works by killing bacteria on the skin, therefore preventing infections.

For someone with ok skin, I seem to know alot about skin cleansers and the like.

It's a Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. It doesn't appear to contain either of those ingredients you mentioned.

Actually, the Great Andy is a Sagitarius, if his "official" birthday (December 11, 1954) is the correct one.

And if you wanted something for your skin that isn't drying, I've got a good recipe for a witch hazel facial toner that might help.

I've seen both November and December listed as his birthday. Someone check the man's birth certificate!

Maybe he claims two different birthdates so he can get more presents. {g}

i use a neutrogena ointment with these little beads of gel (agarose? i can't recall) in 'em. and my skin's generally okay, but from what i can tell, it works like a charm.

Try Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Cleanser, which you can get at Whole Foods or Central Market. Tea Tree Oil is, strangely, not oily at all & clears up budding pimples like magic. It's a natural antiseptic & also helps clear up oil. If you're concerned about moisture, you might try some of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture with sunsreen.

Clinique, Kiehl's, & Origins also have skincare lines for men, & they also carry the highly regarded Jack Black mens' line (no relation to the Tenacious D Jack Black) at Central Market.

Oh yes, of course I don't really know you, but I can not resist any discussion of skincare products.
