I've actually always liked Apu. I wasn't so fond of the writers' decision to have him cheat on his wife, though.

I guess I should do the happiness meme for today, but I'm really not that happy, since I have to get my car's driver's side mirror replaced. But I suppose I'm happy that it seems it'll be resolved quickly, as long as the people at the Ford dealer were telling the truth.

For one final miscellaneous comment, am I overly paranoid for not wanting to give Facebook my passwords to other sites, in order to search for contacts, or alert people about LJ posts (really not sure why I'd even NEED a password for that one), or whatever? And was that a run-on sentence?

I liked Apu, but I don't like the way they've changed his character over the years. And I HATE Manjula and the octuplets. I was sort of OK with Apu cheating on Manjula since she's such a castrating harpy bitch. I don't know -- I really hope that they just send Manjula back to india and she takes the octuplets and then the plane crashes in the sea of Japan and there were no survivors. URGH, that was one of the worst storylines and bad that it was permanent. Boo.

I don't mind Manjula, although I don't know that she works well as a major character. It kind of seems like Apu plots are really hard to come by nowadays, because it would be hard to do one without throwing in his entire family, and it's hard to come up with episode ideas that involve eight kids.

Manjula was kinda oK in the first couple episodes, but basically when they turned her into a screeching harpy, it made me hate her all the more.

Perhaps they could do an episode where all the octuplets TV-Magic grow up. And get out of the house. And it's canon.

Either that, or, since apparently the writers always have wanted to kill Maggie off (I don't get why, but hey), they can do it with the octuplets... that's EIGHT babies for their off-killin' pleasure!

Well, since they reversed several changes (the Van Houtens remarried, Skinner and Krabappel are no longer a couple, Marvin Monroe is still alive, and Barney is back on the drink), who knows what they'll do with Apu's family? Maybe an elf will offer to revive Maude Flanders at the cost of Manjula's life. I certainly hope not, though, as it would make the Land of the Jockeys look good by comparison. {g}

That's kinda what gives me hope, and I'm thinking having TV-Magic grow the kids up might actually be the way to go -- get to comment on a trope that I don't think they've really done AND get rid of one of the worst additions to the show ever! And then maybe Manjula will be so despondent over the loss of her terrible children, she'll kill herself, and God hisself will see what a mistake he made and put Maude back to life. And then there will be candy for everyone!

(Or, more likely, it'd be revealed that A&M were staying together for the kids, and she'd divorce him and go back to India. Where her spaceship would blow up killing her, never to return.)
