So, I saw Sunday night's Simpsons and American Dad episodes. The former wasn't too bad as far as recent episodes go, but the plot was very predictable. The subplot wasn't integrated that well either, but I did enjoy some of the swipes at Apple, obvious though they might have been. (Not that I have any particular dislike for Apple, but I can't quite understand people thinking they're some kind of hippie anti-company.) American Dad wasn't one of the better episodes in recent memory, but it was pretty funny. I liked seeing some largely forgotten characters from earlier episodes, like the mountain man and his Jewish wife. And Roger as the Phantom was pretty good.
I have to go to the doctor tomorrow, but there isn't anything else going on that I know of. That probably means you're going to see more useless entries from me. I'm sure you're all thrilled, right? :P

Date: 2008-12-02 04:19 am (UTC)The Simpsons I didn't think was particularly bad, but not really particularly good, either. And, um, it kinda raised the question of why Lisa re-bought all the music again. After all, if she thinks Birth of the Cool is the best album of all time, wouldn't it stand to reason she'd already have a copy and could rip it in? And, I don't know, I thought the A-plot seemed a little too Messagey. I mean, not that there was really any other way to handle it (I mean, they couldn't exactly do the Patented Simpson Cliche Reversal by having the Muslim family ACTUALLY turn out to be terrorists, but... yeah, I don't know). It was just sorta meh.

I think that's a good point. They pretty much COULDN'T make it surprising in order to retain the message, so it ended up being really predictable. Oh, and another thing that I wondered was why they showed this episode now, when it took place in January. They seem to be doing that quite a bit this season, though, what with the bounty hunting episode starting on St. Patrick's Day. I wonder if it still has something to do the aftereffects of the writers' strike.

Date: 2008-12-02 10:28 pm (UTC)Still, it was kinda funny seeing a "Xmas is OVER goddammit" episode on the day before December. However, as a guy who works in radio, I hope that starts a trend. Xmas is such a pain in the ass.

Steve JobsSteve Mobs living underwater and she had to get to him by using the world's biggest flash drive.
