You know what I haven't done in a while? One of those guess-the-song-lyric games. I don't really like the kind that's totally random, because that always brings up songs I hardly know, and the same artists over and over again. I wanted some random element, though, so what I did was decide on the artists myself, and then let the Shuffle feature on iTunes choose the songs. So here we go:

1. Half underwater, I'm half my mother's daughter.
2. Are you weary of lengthening days? Do you secretly wish for November's rain?
3. [Title], she's got you shaving your legs.
4. We're only [title]. We only want what's best for him.
5. [Title] the world is round, it turns me on.
6. [Title], taking every cue from every ad, girl.
7. All the way back home, I'm telling you, I caught the sun creeping up behind my shoulder.
8. I got a crush, copy shop clerk, but she won't look up at me.
9. Baby, baby, please believe me. I would never, never do anything to hurt you.
10. Dance with me, my old friend, once before we go. Let's pretend this song won't end, and we never have to go home.
11. From the back of your big brown eyes, I knew you'd be gone as soon as you could.
12. Are you too bored to think? Are you too scared to speak?
13. Against the law to talk about the rocket in the park, I send it out to be examined by a scientific team.
14. Standing in the light, you're so self-congratulatory. So I guess you have the right to be so masturbatory.
15. I'm hanging 'round the rock pile with my big old sledge hammer.

Comments are screened, so as to avoid any cases of "Hey, I knew that, but someone else got it first!" So go ahead and guess! I'll probably reveal the answers in about a week.

5 is "Because" by The Beatles. I just saw Across The Universe, it wasn't too bad.

6 is "Sad Girl" by Moxy Fruvous. Did you know there are copies of Thornhill that, instead of having the tracks, have an engineering Powerpoint Presentation on them? I have one.

8 is "Snail Shell" by They Might Be Giants. I love the horns in that song.

11 is "Magic" by Ben Folds Five. This is from Reinhold Messner, isn't it? It's the last CD my best friend suggested to me before he died, and I still love "Army" to this day, because of it?

5. Correct.
6. No, I'd never heard of that. Weird.
8. Right band and album, wrong song.
11. Yes, and that is indeed on Reinhold Messner.

I hate this game. I suck at it. I lost many years of listening to songs with actual lyrics in English because of Music History classes.

I know none of them.

She's Your Cocaine, by Tori Amos

6. [Title], taking every cue from every ad, girl.

Sad Girl, Moxy Fruvous. I hate that song.

8. I got a crush, copy shop clerk, but she won't look up at me.

Dammit. I know that. TMBG. John Henry. Title escaping me.

6. It's not one of my favorites, but I don't think it's particularly bad, either. The only time I saw Früvous live was in 2000, after the release of the C Album, and "Sad Girl" was the only song from Thornhill that they played. I can think of several others I would have rather heard.

Yay, one of these again. Another time to show off my bad memory/knowledge of music.

3. She's Your Cocaine - Tori Amos

5. Because - The Beatles (although I can't stop thinking of Alice Cooper's version from the Sgt. Pepper movie >.> and it doesn't help that [livejournal.com profile] slfcllednowhere had to talk about the movie the last time I talked to her)

8. I WONDER WHAT THIS ONE IS??? Sleeping in the Flowers - TMBG

Wow, only 3!

All correct. You didn't name the artists, but I assume you know them. Besides, looking back at my directions, I guess I didn't specify that you SHOULD include their names.

All correct, and you're the first person to get #1. I know that #15 is also a song you would know.
