[livejournal.com profile] bethje and I watched an old (well, from the late nineties, if that counts as "old") documentary on the Hell's Angels. I think the most interesting thing I learned from it is that one of their precursors was called "The Pissed-Off Bastards." Sounds like a good band name, if it hasn't already been taken, and some motorcycle gang isn't still using it.

I remember when there was a Hell's Angels funeral at my old hometown, and they warned everybody to avoid the funeral home. They had cops all over, and even, as C.W. McCall would put it, a bear in the air. Overkill, perhaps? Incidentally, the funeral parlor was a building called the Jug House, because one of the stones on its front is carved to look like a jug. As the story goes, the builders weren't allowed to drink on the job, so they did that carving as their revenge. I'm sure that really showed...someone! But I digress.

Speaking of motorcycles, one of my driving pet peeves is being stuck behind one. You know what I'm saying? I usually try to pass them, but in the case of a group of Hell's Angels (or Pissed-Off Bastards, for that matter), I'd probably just try to get out of the way. {g}

On a totally unrelated topic, what do all you readers think of my getting a paid Flickr account? I don't take that many pictures, but maybe paying for it would provide an impetus for doing so.

Oh, and happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] colbyucb!

I don't have a Flickr account at all, although I have several friends who do. I don't quite understand the allure, but I also admit to not looking into it very closely. I just post my photos to my LJ scrapbook when I want to post them in my journal.

Do you get access to the LJ scrapbook if you don't have a paid account, though?

I looked it up -- it says paid, permanent and plus accounts have access to it.

Well, maybe it's just Moosh. Or Banjo-Kazooie.

I was just telling Joe last night, as we drove behind a motorcycle, that I hate driving behind/next to them. Especially at night. I always think I'll bump into them and totally murder them, but other than that they're pretty loud and distracting when they sneak up on you.

And thank you :D

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel about motorcycles. They also tend to only have one light, which makes them harder to see. I don't know. If I had a motorcycle, I'd try to drive it as far away from the cars as possible, but a lot of bikers don't seem to care about that.

And thank you

You're welcome. Hey, does that mean you share a birthday with John Linnell?

A lot of people who drive motorcycles on the highways around here aren't even on big harleys, but on tiny little barely street legal bikes... and they whip in between cars and basically freak me out. I agree with you, if I rode one, I would not be doing stuff like that.

Hey, does that mean you share a birthday with John Linnell?

It does, indeed. And the tragedy is that I'm a Flans-girl :p

Well, some people do that with their cars as well. I don't really get the appeal, but I've never been much of a risk-taker.

Do you get any advantages other than being able to post more pictures?

And I just recently saw the sketch that your icon is from. Just thought I should mention that.

Whenever you change your icons, that last comment will probably make absolutely no sense.

Haha I love that sketch.

Being able to post as many pictures as you want is the main thing (it's a big deal for me, I have like 14,000 pictures up right now) but you do get some other fun stuff, like this page of statistics that shows you who's viewed which photos, what sites referred them, etc.

Would you rather get a motorcycle or an HDTV?
