It's been a few days since I last posted an entry, but there really hasn't been much worth writing about. I've been enjoying the warm weather that's swept my area recently. I don't get outdoors all that much, but nice weather tends to have a positive effect on me even when I stay inside. Otherwise, though, things have been pretty dull. I would like to wish a happy birthday (one day late) to [livejournal.com profile] onesto_hotel, though. Also, has anyone else heard that Ben Stein is starring a movie advocating Creationism? I've seen a few mentions of it, but that seems like the kind of thing that would get more media attention than seems to have been the case. Maybe I just haven't paying attention to the right media, though.

I had a dream (or possibly a series of dreams) last night that involved taking a bus to some temp job. At one point, I was going to take the bus, realized I'd forgotten my lunch, and decided I probably wouldn't have work that day anyway since it was Christmas. At another point, I think [livejournal.com profile] zimbra1006 was on the bus with me, and she missed her stop. At another point in this dream (or a related dream; it's sometimes hard to tell the difference), I was at a music store with [livejournal.com profile] bethje, and I found a Young Fresh Fellows EP (I believe that "Think Better Of Me" was the A-side) that included a few songs I'd never heard. Beth was also buying some things, but she left them at the counter after paying for them, and when she came back they gave her totally different items.

Here are some old Friday Fives that [livejournal.com profile] slfcllednowhere did, and that I found worth answering:

1. If you became ruler of the world, what three things would you do first? Find someone better suited to the job, abdicate in their favor, and set myself up with a nice pension.
2. If you were a superhero, what would be your name and what powers would you have? There are plenty of powers I'd LIKE to have, but realistically I'd probably end up with something totally impractical in real-life situations. I could call myself Impractical Man.
3. You can ask one question to someone who knows EVERYTHING. What is it? Well, I'd ask what the best question to ask would be, but then I would have wasted my question. Maybe I should ask how to achieve inner peace, but I doubt I'd like the answer.
4. If you were invisible for a day, what would you do? Sneak into Eginbear Castle. Oh, wait, that's Dragon Warrior III. Really, since most of what I do in any given day involves sitting around on the computer, I'm not sure being invisible would be much of advantage. Sure, part of me would want to spy on people, but I think I'd feel incredibly guilty afterwards.
5. If you saw a mythical/religious deity walking down the street, what would you do? Depends on which one it is. For some of them, running the other way might be a good choice. Otherwise, try to engage them in conversation, and try to get a feel for what divine life is like. (It sucks that I can't come up with a good answer to this one, because I really like the question.)

1. If you had the ability to legally change your name, would you? To what? Don't I already have that ability, provided I want to pay for it? I don't really have any desire to change it, but I do see some appeal in pseudonyms. I used to write as "Damon Z. Pythias" (the idea for which came from my mom telling me she had considered naming me Damon) but I got tired of that.
2. What do you with with change that you receive from banks/purchases/find on the ground? Put it in my pocket, and eventually spend it.
3. If you could travel back in time to change the course of one historical event, what event would it be? I think I'd waive it, since I don't want to make things even worse.
4. Would you rather live a safe, stable, moderately interesting life or one where every day was dangerous, volatile, and different? Safe, stable, and moderately interesting all the way!
5. What do you think you'll be remembered for when you die and, if you could, would you change it to something else? I'm not sure I'll be remembered, and if so it'll probably just be as some weird guy. I'm still hanging on to the hope that I'll eventually do something worth remembering (and preferably not because it's so embarrassing).

Thank you for the belated birthday wishes!

Hm, the Ben Stein creationism movie...I remember reading something about it in the college newspaper. I haven't really seen it mentioned in mainstream news either.

Pardon me asking, but what are Friday Fives? Just random sets of 5 questions?

You're welcome.

Yeah, I think there's some site that posts them every Friday, but I personally only ever see them when someone else posts them to their LJ.

Jason always uses Max as his pseudonym for the same reason.

I guess if I wanted to use a female name, I could go with Anna, which is what my mom says she would have named me if I'd been a girl.

My mom told me that she had considered naming me Nathan(iel). Not a bad name, by the way. :)

Ha! Okay, I am glad I'm not the only one who has had dreams about LJ friends they have never met in real life. :P

Also, missing my stop on the bus does sort of sound like something I'd do.

I think people I only know from the Internet being on public transportation with me is a recurring theme in my dreams. I remember one from a few years ago in which [livejournal.com profile] 3x1minus1 was on a train, and there might have been others.
