Today, I voted AND filed my income taxes. Let no one say I haven't done my civic duty! {g} I'm a little annoyed that I owe the state some money, since my one job didn't withhold any state taxes. I guess that's what happens when you work out of state, though.

[livejournal.com profile] unclemilo did this survey, and while I've done some others like it, I don't think I've done this particular one before, so I might as well do it now. And if I HAVE done it before, well, no harm done. It's sometimes hard to tell the difference between these things.

How to Win a Fight With a Conservative is the ultimate survival guide for political arguments

My Liberal Identity:

You are a Social Justice Crusader, also known as a rights activist. You believe in equality, fairness, and preventing neo-Confederate conservative troglodytes from rolling back fifty years of civil rights gains.

I have to say that, based on my initial listen, I quite like the Pipettes' album. It's really catchy in a retro way, and also has a sense of humor behind it as well (as evidenced in the name of the group, really). I also enjoy the Mountain Goats' The Coroner's Gambit, although Tallahassee remains my favorite of the albums of theirs that I've heard. I think that, as much as it pains me to admit it, I might like their more recent music more than the early lo-fi stuff. Really, though, they're not THAT different, and I think I should listen to all of their albums before making that decision for sure.

This is actually the first primary I've ever voted in. I kept forgetting in previous years.

I too voted, and I sent out my taxes yesterday! And I am also annoyed I owe the state money. The feds, however, owe me about $400, so I'm not complaining too much.. just befuddled.

My favorite 'old' Mtn Goats album is All Hail West Texas or maybe Full Force Galesberg, and favorite new is We Shall All Be Healed. But Tallahassee is the one with No Children, right? In that case it gets major points just for that.

When I lived in Pennsylvania, I always owed the state money, regardless of how much I'd had withheld. And there were local taxes to boot.

All Hail West Texas is one of the ones I have. I haven't listened to it that many times, but I quite like that one song...I can't remember the name, which probably has nothing to do with the lyrics anyway, but it includes the line, "No outstanding warrants for my arrest, hi-diddly-dee, a pirate's life for me." (I could look it up, but I don't feel like it right now.) I haven't heard Full Force Galesberg at all yet. And yeah, "No Children" is on Tallahassee. That was the song that got me interested in the band in the first place, and I get the impression I'm not the only one.

hehe, I think that's the song "Jenny," though I could be wrong because I always confuse song titles when they aren't really obvious.

I also really like Fall of the High School Running Back (or whatever) and Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton. All three of those songs, and probably more from that album, were played live the first time I saw them/him -- which was also the first time I heard any Mountain Goats songs at all. My friends from Utah were visiting and convinced me to go. I've noticed that the few times I've gone to a show without knowing the band at all and had the show be really awesome, it's always catapulted me into an obsession with said band, I guess because a really good show stays with me and gives me an extra fondness for them that just hearing the albums might not.

Oh, I forgot about "The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton." That's a great song. I have to wonder if (the band) the Killers got their name from it, or that was just a coincidence.

No, I actually have a stuffed Bowser, but not a Yoshi. I would like one, though. Maybe if I ever go back to Nintendo World. Or Koholint Island.
