vovat: (Futurama Al)
[personal profile] vovat
I had a dream last night in which I hurried out of work so I could see Weird Al in concert, and forgot to count the money in the cash register till, which my supervisor couldn't find the next day. The concert itself wasn't much. All I can remember him playing was "Yoda," and he didn't even finish that.

[livejournal.com profile] zaph, [livejournal.com profile] little_octagon, and [livejournal.com profile] secretnthewings have all done different end-of-the-year surveys. I like some of the questions in them and don't care for others, so I've just combined all of them into one mega-survey, skipping the repeats and ones for which I can't think of good answers. If I see any more decent questions in other surveys, I might add them in as well.

1. Did you kiss anyone?
Yes.

2. Did you date anyone?
Yes.

3. Are you going to kiss someone when the ball drops?
Hopefully.

4. Did you lose any friends?
I can't say I did.

5. Did you gain any friends?
I wouldn't say so, although I've gained more online acquaintances.

6. Did you do something new?
Getting engaged was new for me.

7. Did anyone important to you die?
My roommate's cat Pumpkin did.

8. Did you change?
My clothes? No, I've been wearing the same thing all year.

9. Are you happy with the year over all?
It wasn't bad, I guess, but I would have liked it better if I'd found permanent employment. [livejournal.com profile] bethje did, though, so that's cool.

10. Whats the best thing that happened to you?
I'd say most of the best things about my year were holdovers from previous ones.

11. Did you fall in or out of love?
No. I've been consistently in love the whole time.

12. Are you happy the year's almost over?
I guess it's been 2007 long enough, so yeah.

13. Are you going to change something about yourself next year?
Hopefully my employment status

14. Do you think 2008 will be a better year then 2007?
I don't really even want to hazard a guess.

15. How many things did you screw up in 2007?
Many

16. Did you go to an amusement park?
Yeah, but I didn't stay very long.

17. Did you go to a concert?
Yes, I went to several, but not as many as in 2006. I haven't really felt the need to see bands that I've already seen whenever they come to my area, although I do sometimes regret that. Seeing the Dresden Dolls and the Ditty Bops again would have been cool, I'm sure, but it's too late now. As it is, I saw Rasputina and They Might Be Giants twice each, as well as Tori Amos, Rufus Wainwright (with Neko Case opening), Herman's Hermits, Weird Al, and Erin McKeown.

18. Did you go to any parties?
No, not that I can recall.

19. Did you go on a summer vacation?
No, I didn't get that luxury, and probably would have stayed home even if I had.

20. Did you get into a fight?
Not a physical one, certainly.

21. Did you leave the country?
No, I haven't done that in over twenty years.

22. Did you have a good birthday?
Not really. I spent most of it working. It wasn't terrible, though.

23. Did anyone in your family get married?
No.

24. Do you think you grew?
I'm pretty sure I gained some weight.

25. Did you dye your hair?
No. I've done that before, but not this year.

26. Who do you think you were on the phone with the most?
Beth

27. Did anyone sing to you?
Probably at some point

28. Did you sing to anyone?
Well, I sang to Beth's dog Dewey. Does that count?

29. Did anyone tell you they loved you?
Yeah.

30. Did you ever go to the hospital?
Yes, but not for a medical problem.

31. What did you drink and eat the most?
Apple juice and ham sandwiches, most likely.

32. Did you change your top friends at least 8 times?
On MySpace, you mean? No, I think they were pretty constant. I hardly ever log on there.

33. Did you change your profile over 10 times?
No.

34. Did you change your default at least 20 times?
My default what?

35. Did you get any new piercings?
No.

36. Did you vote?
Yes.

37. Did you stick to your New Years Resolution from last year?
I didn't make any, and I don't think I will this next year either.

38. Think you'll date someone in 2008?
I think I'll marry someone in 2008.

39. Where will you be when the ball drops?
Probably at Beth's, in bed, or at the computer, depending on how everyone is feeling that night.

40. Do you think you will make new friends in 2008?
It would be nice, but I honestly don't expect to.

41. Are you hoping to meet someone special in 2008?
No, I'm hoping to meet someone ordinary in 2008.

42. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Well, a few of my LJ friends did.

43. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can't think of any. About the only date I might be able to remember is January 18th, which is when Beth adopted her cat Reagan. For what it's worth, that was also my parents' anniversary.

44. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I'm not sure I really achieved much of anything.

45. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting a stable and reliable source of income.

46. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I'm sure anyone reading this is already aware of my ongoing toe problem.

47. What was the best thing you bought?
I don't know. An engagement ring, maybe?

48. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Beth's

49. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Well, Rudy Giuliani's, but that wasn't exactly a surprise.

50. Where did most of your money go?
Bills and food, probably.

51. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
As ridiculous as it might sound, I was pretty excited about finally getting a copy of The Blue Emperor of Oz. I don't think that deserves all those "really"s, though.

52. What song will always remind you of 2007?
I'm not really someone who generally associates songs with particular years, and I really can't think of one for 2007.

53. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Probably a little happier, but I don't really remember how I felt at the end of last year.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer, probably, although at least at present I'm making more money.

54. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing

55. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spending money, although a lot of it couldn't be helped.

56. How will you be spending Christmas?
I've already spent it.

57. How many one-night stands?
Too many to count! Okay, none, really.

58. What was your favorite TV program?
I'd still have to say The Simpsons. My favorites don't change much.

59. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not that I can think of.

60. What was the best book you read?
I think the only new books I read were Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Making Money, of which I liked the former considerably more than the latter. I did read some older books, but I'm not sure which I'd say was my favorite. Abarat and Slaughterhouse-Five were both good ones.

61. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Did I even discover any new artists this year? It was kind of a dry year for music, at least as far as what I listen to goes. I guess you could say the Spice Girls, since even though I've been aware of them for years, it was only this year that I actually heard their albums (at Beth's behest).

62. What did you want and get?
A DS

63. What was your favorite film of this year?
Maybe Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, even though I had a fair number of complaints about it. The Simpsons Movie was pretty good, but not spectacular. I also found This Film Is Not Yet Rated to be quite interesting, but that was actually released last year.

64. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Pretty much the same as in previous years, which is to say none at all.

65. What kept you sane?
I don't think you could reasonably say I've been sane.

66. What political issue stirred you the most?
Offhand, I'd say the whole concept of politicians trying to use fear to promote their agendas

67. Who was the best new person you met?
Did I even meet any new people?

68. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Working the graveyard shift is difficult even if you're used to staying up late.

69. Where did you begin 2007?
At home on the computer, I think. Fitting, no?

70. What was your status by Valentine's Day?
If you're referring to relationship status, the same as it had been for almost seven years before that

71. Were you in school anytime this year?
No.

72. How did you earn your money?
Data entry for most of the year, and work at a library circulation desk towards the end

73. Did you have any encounters with the police?
I got pulled over for improper passing.

74. Where did you go on holiday?
I didn't go much of anywhere at all.

75. Did you move anywhere?
No.

76. Are you registered to vote?
Yes.

77. Where do you live now?
South Jersey

78. Any new additions to your family?
No.

79. What was your best month?
I don't know. I'm tempted to say October, since that's when I got a library job, even though it's only temporary.

80. Who has been your best drinking buddy?
I guess I'd have to say Beth, since she pretty much forced me to drink alcoholic beverages on three different occasions.
