I don't have a regular entry prepared for today, so here's another poll. [livejournal.com profile] yosef suggested cheese as a subject, so I expanded that into a general poll about food.

[Poll #1086208]

If you answered "other" to anything, please provide your answer in the comments.

I was thinking this would be my last poll, but I have an idea for another one, so it probably won't be. And no, it won't be about lemurs. While I'm intrigued by the idea, I'm not sure what questions I'd ask in such a poll, aside from why their skin reflects the sea.

You forgot pineapple for pizza :(

Also, I don't know what Twin Pop is.

And Subway is my favourite fast food.

It's a popsicle with two sticks, so that you can break it in half and have two smaller popsicles for the sharing.

You forgot pineapple for pizza

Well, I had a limited amount of options, but I might have included that if I'd thought of it. I've never actually known anyone who liked sweet corn on their pizza, but I've heard it's really big in Britain. No accounting for international tastes, I suppose.

I'm not sure if I'd count Subway as fast food, since they make a new sub for every customer. On the other hand, it's not like you have to wait for a waiter or anything. Still, I'd consider it closer to a deli than to a fast food place.

J got me into banana peppers as a pizza topping-- it's like a healthier, vegetarian alternative to pepperoni!

Also, I like the weird alternative twin pop boxes, the ones that come with banana, root beer, and lime. And which of those I like depends on my mood and how hot it is. If I'm stuck with the traditional box though, I'll go with grape, because I like fake grape.

I don't think I'd like those alternative boxes as much as the regular ones. I recently bought a box of Edy's Fruit Bars that included lime, and determined that I like lime at first, but tend to get tired of it before I'm finished. And I've never been especially fond of root beer at all.

I find lime is really excellent if it's really hot out, and you're out in the hot as opposed to air conditioning. I'm not so big on lime otherwise. Root beer is the only common carbonated beverage I not only WILL drink but ENJOY drinking, so that's a good default flavor for me. And I just have always had a thing for banana popsicles, even after the time my sister threw up banana popsicle all over the back seat during a long car ride in the summer, although my cousin who was also in the car used that as a personal example of Taste Aversion Through Negative Experience in college years later.

It's kind of weird that actual limes are less sour than actual lemons, yet lime-flavored things sometimes seem MORE sour, or at least less sweet. But then, the correlation between fruit flavors and actual fruits is often incredibly slim. I mean, just try anything watermelon-flavored, and try to find any similarity between that and an actual watermelon.

Yeah, and I love fake grape but don't really like real grapes, and I hate fake cherry but... well, I don't really like real cherries either. I like maraschino cherries but not the regular kind. Actually I like real grapes much more than real cherries, too.

I like both real grapes and grape-flavored stuff, but they're certainly quite different. I think Beth said that cherry-flavored stuff tastes like cough syrup, and I can see where she's coming from, although I usually like it all right. I think the cherry Twin Pops were always my mom's favorite, so she'd usually eat them, and it was kind of a treat when I could have a cherry one. Now, though, I think the cherry ones might be my least favorite, with orange in the middle.

This poll makes me sad, on account of it mentions In and Out Burger, which I've only ever had once but it was the BEST GOD DAMN BURGER I'VE EVER EATEN. And I rarely, rarely, rarely eat beef. Their french fries weren't that great, so I had to go with mcdonald's as my favorite over all, because there really isn't ANYTHING (including the fish filets) that I don't like in that restaurant.

also i have 2 favorite ice creams: chocolate and coffee.

Also i forgot to hit "other" for pizza, but either bbq or buffalo chicken is fucking delicious on pizza

I've never been to In & Out Burger, but I thought I should include it because I know a lot of people love it. I'd like to go to one someday, but what reason would I have to be out that far west? I've never been to Carl's Jr. either, but I understand it's pretty much the same thing at Hardee's, right down to sharing the same logo.

I've never been able to get into chicken on pizza. It just seems weird to me.

pizza topping: pesto!

Seriously? I'm the only other person on your Flist who immediately thinks of Monty Python when presented with a list of cheeses?

"Wensleydale?"
"Yes?"
"Ah, well, I'll have some of that!"
"Oh! I thought you were talking to me, sir. Mister Wensleydale, that's my name."

Oh, and my pizza-topping of choice is pineapple.

"Have you got any cheese at all?"
"Yes, sir."
"I'm going to ask you again, and if you say no, I'm going to have to shoot you."

Oh, and my pizza-topping of choice is pineapple.

Since two people have said that now, and no one has said sweet corn (possibly because of the lack of Brits on my friends list), I probably should have included it. But it's too late now.

Actually, now that I look again, it's THREE people so far who have mentioned liking pineapple.

I love when my random semi-serious ideas are taken to new heights!

I wasn't sure what Twin Pops were either.

This entire poll has made me starving for some pizza and McDonald's. Actually, McDonald's and Pizza Hut are the only fast food places I've seen in England so far, so maybe it's time for me to finally partake in their sweet delights.

I remember a college classmate of mine saying that he went to a Burger King in England (London, I believe), and the checkout clerk had a Cockney accent.

I went to Burger King in the London-Gatwick airport, and having just spent three weeks in Austria all I noticed about their accents were THEY WERE SPEAKING ENGLISH, HOORAY!

If I remember correctly, by the way, I think it was Josh Schneider who mentioned the Cockney guy at the Burger King. I figured you might be interested in knowing that, even if no one else is.

And since he was also on the Vienna trip, it's possible we're talking about the very same Burger King at the very same time. But I suppose he could have been to an entirely different one an entirely different time too-- I didn't keep very good track of everyone's study abroad experiences....

Camembert. And pineapple with my canadian bacon!

I don't think I've ever seen eggs on pizza in the US, but in France they typically crack a raw egg right over the middle of the pizza just before serving. If that's what you mean, then I like that too.

I think I've seen pizzas with scrambled eggs on them before. I've never tried one, but it sounds like it could possibly be good. I also once had some lobster pizza at Red Lobster, but I didn't think to include that in the poll.

Cheese - I prefer the sharpest cheddar you can find. But that wasn't an option so I picked plain ol' cheddar.

Pizza - I also like to order it with extra sauce and bacon, in addition to mushrooms, olives (green, not black) and extra cheese. My heartburn doesn't agree, though. It prefers I avoid pizza altogether.

Twin Pop - I hate popsicles. I do like the Breyers fruit-n-creme bars. Or Fudgesicles.

Ice Cream - Cherry Chocolate Chip, or coconut, but I like them all. Even Pistachio.

Yeah, I also like really sharp cheddar, but considering how few choices you're allowed in an LJ poll, I figured that I'd just make cheddar of any sharpness into one option.

I remember my grandfather really liked pistachio ice cream.

I like pepperjack cheese. I wasn't quite sure what twin pops are, but after reading the description, I have to say I was never really a fan of them. I like In and Out, but I've only had it a handful of times, so I picked Wendy's instead.

I think that with fast food type places, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Usually when someone's only had something once, they have these memories of how great it was, but when they have something day after day, perhaps it wasn't really as good as they remembered it. I feel that way with Del Taco. There's only one in the area, and I had it originally when I went out to CA. Now that it's here in Michigan, I still think it's good, but not nearly as good as I remembered it.

I think that's true, although I have to say I like Chick-fil-A no matter HOW often I have it.
