It almost seems like I've been blogging at a brick wall as of late. Sure, I still get SOME comments, and I know some things just aren't going to be of any particular interest to anyone, but still. It bothers me a little when I write about something I think is interesting, and nobody else cares. But I suppose that's the way of the world sometimes.

I should probably update my web page sometime soon. Does anyone have any sites that they'd like me to link to? Personal home pages don't seem to be as common now as they were back in the day, but I'm sure some of you still have them.

I had some crazy dreams a few days ago that I'd been meaning to write about, but didn't want to devote an entire post to. In one, I had jury duty again, but it was in a bathroom, and the jury had to sit in the bathtub. Another one involved my being in high school, and there was an assembly devoted to the Mario games. I wish there had been something like that at my real high school! Anyway, what I remember was largely accurate (I know they mentioned how Donkey Kong was originally planned as a Popeye game), but they claimed that Donkey Kong was made in the twenties, around the time of Shigeru Miyamoto's twentieth anniversary. Later in the dream, I was supposed to take an algebra exam, but in contrast to how these things usually work in dreams, it turned out I had already finished with it. So I went running around the halls for no apparent reason, and passed someone in a knight costume pushing a cardboard castle. I somehow ended up in what appeared to be a mall food court, where there was a restaurant called "World War I" that apparently specialized in German cuisine.

It's weird how people from the past will sometimes show up in dreams for no real reason. One of the people on the bathtub jury with me was a guy who was in my classes from elementary school up through college. I never knew him very well, but I remember our sixth grade science teacher used to pick on him a lot. The guy who sat next to me in calculus was in the high school dream.

And here are the results of both versions of this nerd test:

I know the feeling! I read every post, but I find I don't have much to say! Usually from being busy or tired or something. In fact, I'm a' goin' to bed now, I think.

Well, I don't expect everyone to comment on every post (I don't do that for anyone else, after all), but it might be nice if SOMEBODY would have something to say on each entry (well, perhaps with an exception here and there, since there are some posts where I really don't say anything at all comment-worthy). But, as with most things on the Internet, there seems to be a pretty clear division between active participants and lurkers.

I'm heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere! I'm just an incredibly shitty commenter, alas.

(I took both nerd tests, and failed miserably. I have no nerd cred! My heart, she is broken.)

I suppose quality is more important than quantity when it comes to comments, but that's not usually how I feel when I'm checking my inbox and getting disappointed at how it's getting nothing but spam and uninteresting mailing list stuff.

I am still reading, I just find that I'm often too brain dead to say anything. I've noticed I don't get many comments at the moment either, so maybe it's a general thing? Or maybe we're both yawnworthy? ;)

I don't know. For my part, I think it's possible that I'm just not coming up with too many new ideas. And there's also the issue of subject-specific posts (e.g., you haven't read any Oz books and I've never watched Life on Mars, so we're almost certainly not going to comment on each other's posts on those topics).

Even the people who would respond to LoM posts haven't been, is my point.

Oh, I see. I don't know. With topic-specific posts, it often seems to me that even people who are interested in the same subjects don't always want to discuss them as frequently as I do.

I know, right! I once had a dream where these two kids I had math class with in 11th grade were at this swanky club I was trying to get into (because they were pseudo-celebrities at this point?), and when I reminded them we had math class together, they were really excited and invited me in to party with them. The actually weird part is that I saw one of them two days later, and i hadn't seen him since 11th grade. Weiiiiird.

And yeah, I'm sorry about the brick wall thing. I'm super lazy when it comes to leaving comments (which is total hypocritical BS because I'm always sad when i get no comments). I lie to myself like "oh man, i'm too busy to leave comments" but then i'm like "but you're not too busy to read LJ and sit on fanfiction.net for like, two hours?" so yeah. I'm lame and i'm sorry. :(

Wow! Prophetic! {g}

I don't want to FORCE people to comment, but if you have something to say, I hope you'll go ahead and say it. But then, there have been times when I second-guessed myself and didn't leave someone else a comment when I was originally planning on doing so.

I live my life in a daze. I don't know how to judge my comment-effectiveness day by day. Actually I tend to comment to your journal more often than a lot of other people's on my friends list, so you're lucky there, but I do wish people would comment more to other people's posts, too, to give me something more to read, even though it shouldn't really matter because there are a million better things I could be doing with my time.

That said, I took the nerd quizzes and turned out only low-level nerd on the first one but quite high nerd (forget the exact title now) on the second. I scored highest in "scifi/comic" though and this is skewed because my husband has a bunch of "Marvel Superheroes: the RolePlaying Game" stuff out right now. But apparently I'm much more dumb/dork/awkward than you, also, if you'd like to know. But really, there weren't a lot of options in questions that reflect the true lives of even very nerdy stay-at-home moms....

I am always dreaming about people from high school that I barely even thought about while I WAS in high school. Last night I dreamt a girl who came to my birthday party in first grade and whom I never really talked to since, let alone seen in the past 11 years, was being mean to me. That's another thing! These random people who show up from the past are never there to do anything CONSTRUCTIVE AND AFFIRMING, NO, they've always got to be the bad guys! Or the indifferent guys, anyway.

Pretty much every time I take a quiz like that, I'm disappointed that it leaves off options that are actually relevant to my life. Like, the question about how I spend most of my Internet time doesn't even mention blogging. What's up with that?

I picked the option that was something like "random stuff" for that question.

Yeah, so did I, but I'd say a large amount of what I do on the Internet is fairly systematic, and not random at all. {g}
