I made a doctor's appointment, but it isn't until Wednesday, so that means almost two more days of toe pain until then. I've been trying to take care of my toe, soaking it in epsom salt and bandaging it, but I don't know how much it's been helping. I really want to get this taken care of.
When I got home this morning, the power was out. It came back on soon afterwards, but it really made me realize how dependent I am on electricity. I mean, I don't even like to SLEEP without it, because I need the alarm clock to wake me up. Some people talk about how they'd like to live in an old-fashioned environment with no electricity, but you can count me out of that.
I haven't been very good at keeping up with gift-giving for my family. I still haven't gotten anything for my brother's birthday (which was last month) or Father's Day. It's harder when you don't actually see the people much at all. Maybe I should just give them something the next time I see them, whenever that will be. I'm starting to turn into my uncle, who used to give us Christmas presents in April or thereabouts, when we when to visit him.
twobitme linked to this last.fm Mainstream-O-Meter that says how mainstream my music tastes are, but I can't figure out how he posted the results on his journal. If you're interested, though, here are my results. According to that, I'm 12.39% mainstream, although that's without factoring in XTC, who couldn't be processed for some reason. The most mainstream band in my Top 30 is apparently Belle and Sebastian, but I'm going to keep in mind that this IS presumably comparing me to other Internet nerds, rather than to the population at large. I would think that Tori Amos might be more mainstream, considering, among other things, that she always plays bigger venues than B&S when she comes to this area. So does Weird Al, for that matter.
