It's kind of embarrassing when I can't remember my own home phone number. I use my cell phone for most incoming calls, though, so I guess it's just not something I've needed to commit to active storage in my memory banks.
The main point of this post, however, is not to curse my faulty memory, but to be a copycat.
zimbra1006 recently made a post about foods she didn't like. I think I'm one of the world's pickiest eaters, so this really hit home for me. Some of the most unusual foods I don't care for include:
On the other hand, a few other people commenting on that post mentioned cottage cheese and raisins as things they didn't like, but I grew up on these foods. Actually, I haven't had cottage cheese in years, but I would probably still like it.
And, contrary to my title, I actually DO want to hear about the kinds of food you hate, especially ones that everyone else but you seems to love.
I should probably get to bed now.

- Mayonnaise and most mayonnaise-based foods (aside from deviled eggs, which I love). The thing with that is that, the few times I've actually tasted mayo, I don't think I found it that bad. It's just so hard to get past the appearance and texture. And stuff like egg salad and potato salad looks to me like it's already been digested once.
- Potatoes. Again, this isn't across the board, as I will eat and enjoy fries or chips in small doses. But mashed potatoes were one of my most hated foods when I was a kid, and I still don't care for them.
- Many, but not all, spicy foods
- Milk. I refuse to drink it, yet I love dairy products. What's up with that? Maybe it's like how I love tomato sauce, but not just plain tomatoes.
- Coffee. I think I've brought up before how this probably relates to my lack of artistic ability, since coffee seems to be an integral part of the modern artistic lifestyle.

Date: 2007-06-03 03:31 pm (UTC)I am so not a fan of Thai food. But everyone else is, so I don't know. I don't like the weird sweetness.
I kinda-sorta remember my cell number; when I have to give it, I usually type it, then double check on my phone. Usually, I'm right, but...

Date: 2007-06-03 03:42 pm (UTC)Tomatoes. I really don't like them, but I like tomato sauce/ketchup/etc. So I'm right there with you on that one. Oh, and shrimp. I HATE SHRIMP. It makes me feel like I'm biting into a boneless finger.
Weirdest food I dislike? Lychee fruit. It's like eating eyeballs.
I find it strange that you can't get past the texture of mayo, but you can eat cottage cheese. That just looks like vomit to me.

Date: 2007-06-04 12:57 pm (UTC)I'm not even totally sure I know what lychee fruit is. That does remind me of another one of my mixed-feeling foods, though. I love peaches, but biting into the skin makes me feel funny. That's why I'll usually buy nectarines instead.
The texture of cottage cheese is nothing like that of mayo, but I can see what you mean about thinking it looks like vomit. I think it's just a case of having grown up on one and not the other.

Date: 2007-06-04 02:41 pm (UTC)and yesterday one of my friends was trying to give me his phone number until he realized he didn't know what it was and didn't have it in his cell phone so he had to try dialing about 10 different ones until his phone rang. Ridiculous.
So I guess it's a pretty common problem in this modern age of cell phones. Sometimes I think it's going to bite me in the ass somehow though. Like what if I end up in jail and have my one phone call and can't call anybody because I don't know their number?

Date: 2007-06-05 02:12 pm (UTC)I don't like shrimp as someone else mentioned, and this weekend I discovered I don't like lobster tails either even when prepared by a really fancy catering service. And I don't like ham, but I do like pork okay and I love bacon but only if it's really crispy, if it's not crispy it tastes too much like ham.
