It's been a few days since I last wrote anything. Let me see if I can think of anything worth mentioning. Well, I did watch the American Idol finalé, which probably isn't worth mentioning, but I'm doing so anyway. This time, there weren't any duets with Meat Loaf that he couldn't remember the next day, but there was the annual ass-kissing of Clive Davis. You know, they say that guy is gay, but he seems pretty lecherous with the young ladies. I'm sure there's some kind of cover-up involved, but exactly who's covering up what isn't clear. Anyway, Clive talked about how Chris Daughtry is kicking Taylor Hicks's prematurely gray ass in record sales. Yeah, the big results show included a speech on how the results mean diddly-squat. I wonder whether the producers noticed this. All of the former winners came out to sing songs from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with the mysterious exception of Fantasia. Eh, she probably would have just sung "Within You, Without You" anyway. :P

Speaking of former Idol winners, what about how Carrie Underwood had a hit with "Jesus, Take The Wheel," and then recently did that song about smashing up her cheatin' boyfriend's car? I'm not sure Jesus would be too cool with that. He was always telling people to turn the other cheek, after all. If she keeps this up, He might not want to be her designated driver anymore.

I also watched the most recent Bullshit!, which was about how anger management is useless or counter-productive for a lot of people. I agreed with most of it, but there wasn't that much meat to the episode. I did think it was interesting when they pointed out how venting anger by hitting pillows and such actually makes people MORE violent, which really makes sense when you think about it. Even though this particular episode was decent, I think the show has definitely gone downhill. It's tackier (just look at how many episodes this season feature topless chicks, compared to previous seasons), and probably more hypocritical as well. It still has its entertaining and thought-provoking moments, but I think it's running out of steam. Oh, well. I'll probably keep watching it as long as it's on.

I had a dream last night where I was back in school (familiar, huh?) and in some class that was actually a combination of two different classes. Students were sharing their reports, and I'd actually DONE mine this time, but I wasn't sure I'd done it correctly. I was actually in the science class, and I'd done something on Peter the Great. The description for the assignment did say I could do it on a historical figure, but I thought it might be a problem anyway, so I decided I'd e-mail the professor about it later on. I don't think I ever actually did, though, because the later part of the dream involved my conversing with a traffic cop about cartoons, and ending up on a bridge overlooking a park where a guy was driving around in a really old and tiny car.

I've been having a problem where, if I try to watch an embedded YouTube video on my friends page, it'll load the last one I watched. I thought this might be a problem only I was having, but it's been doing that for [livejournal.com profile] bethje as well.

Speaking of computer problems, iTunes has apparently lost my entire library. Not a huge deal, but a definite hassle, and I see no reason why it would have happened. Other than iTunes being kind of a crappy program, that is. But hey, I'm a sucker for the Search function. WinAmp runs more smoothly for me, but it doesn't appear to have any way for me to find, say, every song on my computer with the word "carrot" in the title. (For what it's worth, there are four. {g})

And since I've talked a lot about stuff that sucks in this post, I might as well end it on a positive note, and point out that I quite like the new Tastykake Lemon Krimpets. And they're somehow affiliated with that Alex's Lemonade Stand thing, so part of what I paid for them is donated to children's cancer research, or something like that. Tastykakes are a local thing, though, so most of you who aren't from the Philadelphia area probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

I have heard of Tastykakes, but I don't know much about them. But Lemon things are typically good.

iTunes for the PC isn't so ht, but the Mac version is actually awesome, but that makes sense I suppose, considering it's Apple.

Yeah, that's something that I often tend to forget. I mean, if you asked me if I liked lemon, I'd probably just say it's okay. But lemonade is one of my favorite drinks, and lemon cakes are really good. So maybe I like lemon more than I think I do, but I wouldn't go as far as just sitting down and eating one. {g}

I get the feeling that Apple products often don't run so well on PC's. I think I've had some problems with QuickTime as well.

There are several things I will miss about living near Philly.

My dentist, our vet, Iron Hill Brewery, Tastycakes, the giant IKEA right down the road, Turkey Hill, less snow than Pittsburgh, and of course, our friends in the area.

Many things I will not miss - the traffic, the way people REALLY don't know how to drive out here, the crime rate, the endless rap/hip-hop stations, the lack of a decent alternative rock music station, proximity to New Jersey, the higher cost of living, the not being close to our family/most of our friends, my crappy job...this list is pretty long. I'll stop there.

the way people REALLY don't know how to drive out here

Dude, I know! People in Philadelphia all seem to want to drive with their bumpers two inches from each other, for God knows what reason. Trying to merge is a pain in the ass, and yet there are a bunch of roads with lanes that end abruptly.

What's wrong with New Jersey, though? I DO live there, you know!

I hate the ever loving shit out of iTunes. But it's so much easier to have when you have an iPod, so I keep it on my compy. But when I'm listening to music, I use HP Rhapsody. It's like, some off shoot of real player. And I hate real player, but HP Rhapsody is the shit. It also has a search function,a nd I've never had a problem with it. YOu might wanna check it out.

RealPlayer bugs me so much that I'd be reluctant to check out anything else they've released. And MusicMatch also sucks pretty hard. I use iTunes when I want to listen to a lot of music, but I still have WinAmp as my default player, since it opens a lot more quickly. I'm not sure why iTunes takes so long to load.
