Stupid Springing Ahead! That's another hour I could have used for Sims-playing or LJ-reading! Why don't we just Fall Back six times every year, and skip the whole Leap Year thing?

Anyway, I wasn't that impressed by last night's Simpsons or Family Guy. It's been a little while since I have been, really, although I certainly haven't given up on either one. It seems like the writers of both shows are trying to come up with the wackiest relationships possible, although the Simpsons writers are making more of an effort to keep it tasteful. Sometimes tasteless works quite well, but Peter wanting to sleep with Lois' mom is...well, pretty messed up. As far as specifics go, I don't really have that much to say about the Simpsons episode, which kind of rushed through without really showing the reactions of anyone but Homer. Surely Mrs. Bouvier, who dated Abe for a little while, would have some sort of opinion on his marrying her daughter? I think the current writers sometimes forget Jackie is still alive. And the intitial problem (Homer's taking Abe out of the retirement home in order to save money) was never resolved. You'd think I'd be used to that by now, and I guess I am, but it's still lazy writing. With Family Guy, well, Peter hanging out with James Woods was funnier than his hanging out with Bill Clinton. I kind of had to wonder if the Clinton stuff was meant as kind of a balance to all the Bush jokes they've been doing on both FG and American Dad. ("See, we can mercilessly mock Democratic presidents, too!") I've noticed that The Simpsons had a lot of Clinton mockery back when he was in office, but has done very little with Dubya. I kind of wonder if they think it's too easy, but that didn't stop them from making lecherous Clinton jokes, so I don't know. They probably made fun of Bush Sr. more than might be expected, but that was payback for his anti-Simpsons comments, so it makes sense.

I wonder if I should take down my old GeoCities page. I remember they had gotten rid of it due to inactivity, but they apparently brought it back, and I still get the occasional e-mail about it. Maybe it would work better if I just left a pointer to the new address, and removed the rest?

Finally, I just recently woke up from a few dreams in which I was totally humiliated. One involved my washing clothes on the floor (why, I have no idea), and some guys decided to set up a table on top of me. When I complained, they all laughed, and stuck stickers on my back. In another dream, I stopped by Burger King on my way to work, and tried to give them some kind of check or something, and it took forever for them to figure out how to process it. When I checked my watch, I found out I'd been there for over an hour, and was going to be really late for work. The final one I can remember had my pants button coming off while I was at an airport, and unable to change into other pants. Why did all of my dreams have to be so embarrassing?

Have you recently done something to your mind to make it want to hurt you?

Not that I can recall. Maybe I just have a general fear of embarrassment. I really DID have a pants button break off recently, but not in public.

Oh, do they actually do that now? I had a Geocities (in combination with my Angelfire) pre-Jon Stewart Daily Show page (my famous mailing list was run from it) circa 1997, and then it merged with something or other and I couldn't get it to let me log in anymore, and have always been vaguely bothered by the idea of it being out there somewhere in the desolate halls of cyberspace for people to stumble across and be upset by the inactivity and dead links...

I don't think they do. A few years ago, they claimed they would, and I just figured I'd let it go. It really was down for a little while, but then they put it back up again, with no activity on my part. So I don't really know what's going on with them, and I don't really care, but I wish people would actually READ the notice that the page has moved (not that the new address is current anymore either, but at least it's MORE current).
