Has boxing been good to you?
Dec. 26th, 2006 06:26 pmWe don't really celebrate Boxing Day here in the States, but since it has such a cool name, I might as well acknowledge it. So, on behalf of Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, King Hippo, Piston Honda, and the rest, happy Boxing Day! (I never actually played Punch-Out, incidentally.)
It's also
slfcllednowhere's birthday, so happy birthday to her. And so I don't forget, I'll also say happy birthday to my other LJ-friends with birthdays within the next week:
little_octagon,
jazzsammich,
k1cup, and
bec_87rb. Why do I have so many LJ-friends born around the beginning or end of the year? I'm not sure. Maybe it's a Capricorn thing.
I had a good Christmas. I spent most of it that I wasn't asleep at
bethje's house. We opened our gifts, had dinner with her extended family, and watched crap on TV. Also, Charo came over to sing "Feliz Navidad" and give us fruitcake. No, wait, that was the Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas special.
Most of the gifts I got were clothes and candy (not that there's anything wrong with that). A few other things I got included:
I still haven't exchanged gifts with my immediate family (meaning my mom and siblings; my dad dropped his off about a month ago when he came to visit). I feel kind of bad that I wasn't able to go down to Virginia with them. I guess that's what I get for starting a new job right before Christmas. I seem to get most of my jobs around this time of year, though.

- From my dad, some money and a weird springy snowman thing
- From Beth's Uncle John, a copy of the Mountain Goats' The Sunset Tree
- From her uncle Harry, two ties and a belt (yeah, those are clothes, but different ones from the typical shirts and such)
- From Beth herself, a hardcover copy of Ruth Plumly Thompson's Kabumpo in Oz (Hooray! Color plates!), CD's of three Weird Al albums that I previously only had on cassette, the Fastbacks' Alone in a Furniture Warehouse Scaring You Away Like a Hotel Mattress, and Final Fantasy V Advance

Date: 2006-12-26 11:55 pm (UTC)Hee, we mountain goats get lonely at altitude, so it's nice to have company.
Thanks for the birthday greetings and have a happy new year.

Date: 2006-12-27 11:15 pm (UTC)Yeah, but it's so long, you'd think it was...well, a Mountain Goats title or something. {g} I also quite like the title of the song "The Buried Treasure Was Crap," although the song itself hasn't really clicked with me.
I got your card in the mail today, too! Thanks!
You're welcome!

Date: 2006-12-27 11:16 pm (UTC)Actually, you'd think there would be a lot of American babies born around the same time of year that I was (mid-November), seeing as how it's nine months after Valentine's Day.
