And I am a writer, writer of fictions
Dec. 1st, 2006 08:37 pmWell, November is now over, and my NaNoWriMo story has only 13,574 words. You'd think not working for most of the month would mean a lot of time for writing, but I never seem to able to do anything productive during my periods of unemployment. Still, I wrote a lot more in the past month than I probably would have done otherwise, so it was hardly a complete failure. I'm sure I'll write more of the manuscript in the future. I'm hoping the rough draft doesn't take as long for this one as it did for the tentatively-titled The Giant Rabbit of Oz.
I've also written a rough draft [1] for another Oz story, which I call "The Walking City of Trilmeria." It was actually my first attempt at the 500-word Oz story that
lozenger8 challenged me to write (the challenge eventually being met with this), but when I did my first word count, it turned out that I'd used more than 500 words just to set up the premise. It ended up with 2664 words, and I don't think I could have made it much shorter and still had it include everything I wanted it to.
[1] When I say "rough draft," that doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to do anything else with it, but there's always the possibility that I will. I mostly just want to make clear that the story is something I cranked out without much editing or anything.
