Bounty of eternal fields
Nov. 22nd, 2006 06:02 pmThe blog on this XTC MySpace page (which isn't actually run by the band, so don't get your hopes up in that respect) has some interviews with Andy Partridge about various XTC songs, which are very interesting. (I can't believe it. Somebody's finally found a practical use for MySpace! {g}) The interview about lyric writing includes Andy saying that he wants to use the word "Zugwang" somewhere. I guess somebody should tell him that Frank Black beat him to it.
Another interesting thing I came across on the Internet was the May 12 entry from this blog, which is written by the guy who illustrated my story in the 2005 Oziana.
And speaking of Oz writing, I finished the seventh chapter of my novel today. The draft only has 11,761 words, so I don't think there's any chance I'm going to meet the 50,000 word goal. For that matter, the plot is just starting to move, so it'll probably be a lot more than 50,000 words if I ever DO finish it. Still, I have a pretty good idea of where I want it to go, which is more than I can say for my only completed novel-length Oz manuscript. That one turns into such a mess at the end. Actually, I guess I DID know basically where I wanted that one to go, but not how to tie up the loose ends without resorting to some really convoluted explanations. I also originally had the Wizard of Oz in two places at one time, but I'm pretty sure I managed to fix that.
