Go ahead! Throw your vote away!
Oct. 31st, 2006 07:08 amI got my sample ballot in the mail yesterday. I probably should try to find out something about these candidates before actually voting, huh? {g} What I find amusing are the affiliations listed for the third party candidates, which include "God We Trust," "Legalize Marijuana (G.R.I.P.)," "Preserve Green Space," and "Health Is Wealth." I'm all in favor of candidates not endorsed by the two main parties, but, well, what's the main complaint that a lot of people have about the two-party system? That they usually end up voting for candidates who don't actually reflect their own values and opinions, but simply for the ones they disagree with less often, right? So when the best that alternative parties can offer is these one-issue candidates, isn't that sort of a step in the wrong direction?
I just signed up for that National Novel Writing Month thing that a lot of y'all (Wait, "y'all"? Have I turned into a Southerner?)have done before. I have an idea for an Oz novel pretty well planned out. I probably won't have the chance to actually write much of anything (especially when you consider that I'm currently working a temp job), but there's apparently no penalty for not finishing, so I'll be no worse off than I am now, right?
Oh, by the way, happy Halloween!
