I don't want to sound too much like the Comic Book Guy (whose exchange with Principal Skinner was actually pretty funny), but last night's Simpsons was another disappointing episode. I liked the beginning (and it made me think of [livejournal.com profile] kristenjarrod and her interest in dead malls {g}), but the main plot was kind of dull for me (although Homer's "I Do All The Work" shirt was amusing), and the subplot...well, Bart forcing Skinner to do gross or embarrassing things got a little tiresome. I thought the allergy idea had potential when they first brought it up, but it didn't work out so well.

On the other hand, I found both American Dad and Family Guy to be quiite good last night. In the former, I liked Stan's line about negotiating through negotiation class (it's rare to hear such a clever logical paradox on TV nowadays {g}), and Deputy Director Bullock's banjo bit was great. (Was that actually Patrick Stewart singing?) The best joke in FG was the guy driving the Hummer, but I was also quite amused by the talking stump and toilet seat, as well as the tumbleweed salesman. And it had a plot that actually worked well, so that's another plus. I'd say it's the best episode of the season so far (although that DOES only require it to beat out two others).

I also got this one from [livejournal.com profile] obsessical.

I am personally shocked that I have not recieved 1,284 e-mails in my deadmalls.com inbox about last night's show. Times like these I wish I had a VCR hooked up to my old PC's so I could make screen captures.

>and Deputy Director Bullock's banjo bit was great.

You might already know this, but that was a George Formby song from the 30s that was a big hit in England but is not very well known in the US. I'm a huge Formby fan and that was the first time I've seen him referenced on American TV so I have a new respect for American Dad.

I didn't know the song, but I thought it sounded pretty cool. Is there anywhere I could hear it?
