So, another season of The Simpsons started last night. The show has somewhat of a history of using subpar episodes for season premieres, but I didn't think this was the case with the most recent one. Fat Tony is a character who's pretty much guaranteed to provide some solid laughs, and he got in some great lines this time, especially in the carpool scene. The ending was kind of abrupt, though. The DVD commentaries have the writers constantly complaining about the shortening of the show to make room for more commercials, and I can totally see where they're coming from. Incidentally, was Otto's voice off, or am I just not used to it because it's been a while since he's had a major role? Regardless, his part was also a highlight of the episode.

I'm glad about the timeslot switch of American Dad and The War at Home. I can't believe the latter show is still on the air, but I'm suspecting that a good many of its "viewers" are people who were too lazy to change the channel in between The Simpsons and Family Guy, and now that's no longer a concern. Anyway, I thought last night's American Dad was a good one. And Family Guy had a weird premise and a somewhat predictable conclusion, but it had enough good jokes to make it worthwhile. Really, with that show, the plot is pretty much secondary to the jokes anyway.

Also, I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and bring you this:

Is it just my interests, or are a lot of the default pictures borderline pornographic? Also, it took me a while to find a picture that related to the band XTC, rather than the drug. And that wasn't the kind of cracker I meant, but I like that kind of cracker as well, so I kept the picture. {g}

If you posted a picture of them on your journal, maybe that's where the result came from. There probably aren't that many search results for "bwoop bwoop," after all.

I plyed around with that collage thing and a lot of the pictures for my interests were pornographic -- for instance: knee socks and "being myself" o_O;

I was intrigued that for my interest "pet chickens" it displayed one of my photos of my own pet chickens. But, I'm still confused about *how* that happened since all the images on my website are index/spider/direct-link blocked.

Hah! That's funny about the pet chickens! Maybe somebody you know and let see your locked pictures-- or somebody you might have given one of those pictures to once-- reposted it again on an unblocked site!

To Nathan-- yeah, that seems to be the norm, the borderline pornography. Maybe that's just something about yahoo pictures-- they just assume that no one who searches for pictures on the Internet is looking for something innocent? Also, you picked the same Harry Potter picture as me! Yay!

That was actually the first picture I got for Harry Potter, and I thought it was all right, so I didn't even bother seeing the other possibilities. I tended to keep the first pictures I got, unless I really hated them, or I thought they were using the wrong meaning of a term.

I totally thought to myself last night, "I wonder if it's a new Simpsons..." but then assumed it was too early for that. Since when did they start so early?

I also had a few borderline pornographic pictures come up for the interests collage plus a few I can't connect to any of my interests (well, without doing the task of process of elimination which could cause me to overcome laziness).

I didn't think there would be a new episode tonight either, although I was planning on checking. Fortunately, Beth remembered without checking.

Back in the earlier days of the show, the season used to always start in September. I think it was around ten years ago that Fox started bumping it back due to baseball and other stuff, and there was at least one season that didn't start until November. I think the seasons might also be shorter now (22 episodes, as opposed to 24).

Yeah, it took me a while to figure some of them out, while there were others where I flipped through a few different results before I got it. There were also a few I didn't bother examining more closely. Most of the results between Scott McCaughey (the guy with the sunglasses at the end of the twelfth row) and Super Mario Bros. confuse me.

I only got to see the first act of the new Simpsons. It seemed pretty decent, but, yeah, Otto was WAY off. I wonder what the deal with that was.

Family Guy, I thought was sorta Eh. Some good stuff, but it seemed a little... like a stretch. But there's a few of those -- like the start of last season was a little rocky, too, so, hey. I did like the Primus shout-out, though.

Ah, so I wasn't the only one who thought Otto sounded off. That's good to know.

The premise of the FG episode was definitely a stretch, but I'm generally more lenient with that with FG than I am with The Simpsons, since FG is less realistic in general. But yeah, it wasn't a great episode. I'm hoping the rest of the season is better. I think there were some definite winners and some relative duds since the show was brought back from the dead. I've seen some people saying that the show sucks in general as of late, but I can't agree. The FCC episode was one of the best ever, and that was last season (I think).

Yeah -- FG's gotten a bit more uneven (the 2/3rd seasons tended to be pretty solid all around), but when they hit, they still knock it out of the park. The FCC one is so good.

One of my interests was "summer", so just about *every* picture for that featured scantily glad women. Hmm...maybe that's *why* I like summer :-P.
