It's been a while since I've made an update telling what I've actually been doing, so I'll go ahead and remedy that now. On Thursday night, [livejournal.com profile] bethje and I watched Velvet Goldmine and Natural Born Killers, neither of which did that much for me. They were okay, but they wouldn't go down in my list of memorable films (assuming I HAD such a list). We were finally able to return them to Netflix, though, which is good. The service isn't really worth it if you don't watch the movies, is it? On Saturday, we went to a party for Beth's cousin Samantha, who is now two years old.

Other than that, there isn't too much to report. I've been playing The Sims quite a bit. It's weird how a game where I've pretty much already done everything there is to do still holds my interest for so much time. Then again, I'm the kind of person who can re-read my favorite books a bunch of times and still get something new out of them, so maybe the principle is the same. Nevertheless, the fact that I encountered a really weird bug in the game on Friday is probably a sign that I should hold off on playing it for a while. I have a lot of other stuff to do, after all.

I'm in the process of editing my web page, and then hopefully moving it to a new server. My plan is to go back through my Oz stories and revise them before putting them back up. Of course, it'll probably take me some time to get around to this, but I'm hoping it'll be fun to return to those old tales.

Finally, here's a link that I got from the [livejournal.com profile] futurama community. Someone has apparently had a look at the Futurama movie script, and has a description of it. I assume it's legitimate, but whether or not that's the case, I'm still anxious to see it.

velvet goldmine is a pretty boring movie, but the soundtrack is *incredible*.

i get more out of the sims just creating people and designing houses/furnishing houses way more than actually playing the game. heh.

Hm -- yeah. It's not bad (the movie), but I endorse all the Brian Eno songs. I like that apparently at the Oscars when it won for best music or whatever it was, the orchestra played "Needles In The Camel's Eye". That would have been awesome to hear.

Yeah, the music was pretty cool. It was kind of like the movie was made just to showcase the songs.

Yeah, I can see that. The game play can get a bit tedious after a while, but the design aspect can be fun (even though I'm not especially good at it). It does bug me that the original game has so few heads and bodies to choose from. I used to have some other ones downloaded, but I'm not sure whether I saved them.

There's going to be a Futurerama movie and they're making new eps for Comedy Central? And on top of that a Simpsons movie to be out next summer? Wow.

I think there are going to be three direct-to-DVD Futurama movies, which will be broken up and shown on TV. Kind of like the Family Guy movie, although I'm hoping they're more, well, movie-ish. I liked the FG movie, but it was really more a few sort-of-related episodes strung together than an actual film. I don't think the first Futurama movie is due out until 2008, by the way.

Heh, I never thought of that one. I do think one of the men's bits of speech sounds like "excrahm, eight-nine, eight-nine, five-o-five," though.

I like to imitate the Sim kids, like when they say the lines ending with "Zah! Z-z-z-z-zah!" and "Boom!" Also, there's the joke they tell that starts with "sickamoon shay," although I can never quite remember the rest of it.
