I had a dream on Tuesday night about some previously unknown part of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Arthur and Trillian get together, but it doesn't last. I wonder if I had Fry and Leela on the back of my mind, what with all the discussion as to what will happen with them if the rumored new episodes of Futurama actually come to pass. I had several dreams on Wednesday night, but I can't remember most of them. All I know is that I had a library fine of $28 or so.

I had originally intended to finish reading my entire friends page before posting this, in case there were some more memes that I could add in. That's taking me longer than I might have expected, though, and I've already done two surveys, so I might as well just go ahead and post. So, without further ado,
This alphabet survey comes from [livejournal.com profile] rockinlibrarian:

A
Available: For what?
Age: 28
Annoyance: Currently, never having time to catch up on Internet stuff, and then getting bored quickly when I finally DO have the time.

B
Best Friend: [livejournal.com profile] bethje
Beer: I've never gotten into it.
Birthday: 18 November 1977

C
Crush: I guess Beth, if she counts.
Car: Ford Focus
Candy: Jellybeans

D
Day or night: day
Dream Car: A magical flying car that maintains itself
Dog or cat: Cat

E -
Earliest time you woke up: Way too early
Easiest person to talk to: Myself. Beth
Eggnog: Never gotten into that, either.

F
Favorite Month: Not sure. May?
Favorite color: Red
Favorite Memory: Just overall memory? No idea. Reading the Oz books for the first time was really cool, though.

G
Gummy Bears or Worms: Worms
Giver or taker: I've been both at various times.
Gum: I like bubble gum, but I can't blow bubbles. I can't whistle, either.

H
Hair Color: Brown
Height: 5'10"
Happy: Not so much. I'm okay at the moment, but I really wish the future weren't so uncertain.

I
Ice Cream: Peach
Idol: Billy

J
Jewelry: I don't wear any anymore.
Job: Librarian/temporary data transcriber
Jail: Beth and I went to Eastern State Penitentiary for our anniversary a few years ago. That was pretty cool.

K
Kids: What's the matter with kids today?
Kickboxing or karate: Karate
Kindergarten: I'm glad I'm well out of that. I suck at arts and crafts.

L
Longest Car Ride: I can't remember. Maybe the time we came back from Canada, although we stopped a few places, so I don't know if that counts.

M
MILK FLAVOR: None of them
Most missed person: I miss Beth the most often, but I do see her fairly frequently, so that's probably not the kind of answer you're looking for ("you" being the survey as a separate entity, I suppose :P).
Movie Last Watched: Happiness

N
Number of Tatoos: Zero
Name: Nathan

O
ONE WISH: Success for myself and my friends, and that would include lots of money.
One Phobia: Being lost
One regret: I guess this isn't exactly just ONE regret, but there are several things I regret not buying when I had the chance.

P
Pet Peeves: People opening windows during allergy season (or other inopportune times), repetitive noises
Part of your appearance you like best: I think I usually wear nice shirts. Does that count?
Part of your Personality you like best: I think I'll go with Amy here, and say "imagination."

Q
Quote: "And how does lemur's skin reflect the sea?"
Quick or Slow: Like all Americans, fast!

R
Reason to smile: Right now, because I actually have some free time.
Reality TV Show: Some people put American Idol under that umbrella, but I don't think that makes sense. Not just because it has nothing to do with reality (no show does), but because it's pretty much all scripted. Talent shows were around long before the "reality" label.
Reasons to cry: My habit of saying stupid things

S
Song Last Heard: The Decemberists - The Chimbley Sweep
Season: Summer
Shoes: I was wearing Land's End moccasins, but I took them off when I got home.

T
Time you woke: About 5:30 AM. Way too early, if you ask me.
Time Now: 4:26 PM
Time for bed: Tonight, probably between 9 and 10. Again, way too early, but I'll probably stay up later tomorrow night.

U
love someone: Yes, but what does that have to do with the letter U?
Unpredictable: Anything can be predicted, if you know all the factors.
Underwear: I'm wearing boxers right now. They're pretty comfortable.

V
Vegetable you hate: There are some vegetables I just won't touch. Olives, for instance. Wait, do they count as a vegetable?
Vegetable you love: I don't know about "love," but I do like carrots.
Vacation spot: I'm not sure. It's been a while since I've really gone on a real vacation. As of now, just sitting in front of the computer makes for a pretty cool vacation.

W
Worst Habits: Too many to list
Where are you going to travel next? To work
Weather right now: It looks pretty nice out now, but it was raining earlier today.

X
X-Ray: I haven't had one of those in a while.

Y
Year it is now: 2006
Yellow: The Winkies' national color

Z
Zoo Animal: Well, I do like elephants.
Zodiac: I'm a Scorpio.

And this second one is from [livejournal.com profile] lozenger8:

1. You have 10 bucks and need to buy snacks at a gas station, what do you get?
Probably some crackers, juice, and a candy bar. Maybe a hot dog, if they look any good.

2. If you had to be reincarnated as some sort of sea dwelling creature, what would you be?
A kraken

3. Who's your favorite Redhead?
Neko Case

4. What do you order when you go to IHOP?
Usually an omelette. Sometimes whatever the special is. Always some kind of breakfast food, though.

5. What was the last book you read?
The Last Hero, by Terry Pratchett. I'd read it before, though.

6. Have you made out with anyone on your friends list?
Yeah.

7. Describe your favorite pair of underwear:
I don't know that I have a favorite, but some are definitely more comfortable than others.

8. Describe the last time you were injured:
Cracker scratched me a few days ago (with his back claws, no less). I've probably been injured since then, but I can't remember the circumstances.

9. Of all your friends, with whom would you want to be stuck in a well with?
Probably Beth, although I doubt she'd want to be stuck there with ME, because I'm sure I'd be all panicky and annoying.

10. Rock Concert OR Symphony?
Rock concert

11. Are there any weird things that turn you on?
Not that I can think of

12. What is the wallpaper on your desktop?
This

13. Soda?
I'll get it at restaurants, but I'm more apt to drink fruit juice at home. Not surprisingly, my favorite sodas are the fruit-flavored kinds (orange, grape, lemon-lime, etc.). And Sprite is much better than Sierra Mist.

14. Flavour of pudding?
I don't really eat that much pudding. I'd probably like vanilla or butterscotch, though.

15. What type of shirt are you wearing?
A short-sleeved blue shirt with buttons.

I couldn't afford it even if I needed it.

17. If you could use only one form of transportation for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Magic.

18. How many people are on your friends list?
My info page says 46, but two of them are separate journals maintained by other people on the list, and one has apparently deleted her journal. So I guess the more technically correct answer is 43.

19. How many people in your list do you know in real life?
I have met seven (namely [livejournal.com profile] bethje, [livejournal.com profile] colleenanne, [livejournal.com profile] not_glimmer, [livejournal.com profile] onib, [livejournal.com profile] rockinlibrarian, [livejournal.com profile] slfcllednowhere, and [livejournal.com profile] themall).

20. What are you listening to right now?
The Lon Lon Ranch music from Ocarina of Time

21. Most recent movie you've watched in a theater?
I guess it would be The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It's been a while, hasn't it?

22. If you could invent one thing, what would it be?
A hilarious refrigerator alarm

23. Name an actor/actress you've had the hots for:
I can't think of one.

24. What's your favorite city?
The Emerald City. And I don't mean Seattle.

Carrot, I guess.

26. What's the first word that comes to mind right now?
"Gateway," because it's on the monitor.

Three weeks ago, I think?

28. Who got you to join LJ?
No one, really. I joined as soon as Beth told me it was now free.

29. What did you have for dinner LAST NIGHT???
A cheeseburger and two hot dogs, all left over

30. How long have you been residing in the current city you live in?
I don't live in a city, but I've been in my current house for two months now.

31. Who is your best friend on LJ?
Beth. Same as my best friend elsewhere.

32. What's the last thing you said out loud?
I can't remember. Probably something about cataloging.

33. Look to your left, what do you see?
A phone and some books and such.

34. Who is the last person who spent $100 on you?
Probably me.

35. Who is your favorite tennis player?
Do I have to have one?

36. When was your last kiss?
Yesterday morning.

37. What's the last piece of clothing you bought?
It might have been socks, but it's been some time. I really need to do some more clothes shopping sometime soon.

38. Go into your text message log on your phone...what is your last message?
It's from Dorothea.

39. What are your plans for the weekend?
Well, on Sunday, I'm going to New York to see my dad.

40. How do you feel today?
Pretty well, but a little anxious.

I think olives are a fruit, 'cause it's got a pit, like a cherry. Is that a legitmate definition of a fruit? But anyway, once something gets so preserved like that, I think of it as being a different entity altogether, neither fruit nor vegetable. For example, I don't consider a maraschino cherry a legitimate fruit either. It's just something gross.

My theory is that anything that grows on/as part of a plant is a vegetable, meaning even grains are vegetables until they're ground down-- somehow dried ground down stuff doesn't count as a vegetable, so FRESH herbs are vegetables and dried or powdered herbs aren't? I don't know. And fruits are basically just a type of vegetable. That's how my brain handles it all anyway.

Well, the dictionary.com definition (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/vegetable) says that a vegetable is: "A plant cultivated for an edible part, such as the root of the beet, the leaf of spinach, or the flower buds of broccoli or cauliflower." By that definition, I would say that fruits would technically count as vegetables, as would roots, like carrots and potatoes. For that matter, I suppose you could say that grains count as well.

Aw. It's an integral part of my favorite mixed drink, a Shirley Temple.

Yuck. I mean, I also love Shirley Temples, but maraschino cherries have the taste and texture of sweetened plastic.
