Okay, this was the third three-part fantasy Simpsons episode this season. I think the writers are doing whatever they can to get out of writing regular episodes. While I thought the meta-joke about the middle story being the weakest was funny in context, I have to wonder how accurate that really is. In this particular episode, I actually thought the last story was the weakest. The first was probably the best, although all three were somewhat hit-or-miss. I wasn't familiar with the source material for the second or third, which I'm sure didn't help. But they also both ended rather abruptly, and the ending to the whole thing wasn't particularly satisfactory. Shouldn't they have done SOME kind of resolution to the framing story at the Frying Dutchman? Funny bits included Skinner as the abusive captain, Homer and Marge's not-really-sexual dialogue in the Mayflower segment, Ned whipping himself, and Homer getting in trouble for questioning the name of the Jacobean Era. (I've kind of wondered about that last thing myself. I think the reason is that the names "James" and "Jacob" are somehow related, but it's still weird.)

My favorite part of Family Guy was probably Peter's attempt to rob the train and subsequent conversation with the conductor. I know some people complain about drawn-out jokes on FG, but I've found several of the recent ones to be really funny. I also liked the Kool-Aid Man's appearances (the first more so than the second, although I liked that there was a callback to it).

By the way, does anyone know of anywhere I could find a They Might Be Giants poster? I checked eBay, but there wasn't much there. I have some other music posters that I'm planning on putting up as soon as I can, but none for my favorite band, which seems a bit wrong to me.

Keep trying ebay, the different album promotion things from record stores show up every once in awhile. That's pretty much your only bet since they've never distributed them officially with the exception of the STD posters through the newsletter. And sometimes you can find decent posters advertising shows on ebay too.

They also had John Henry posters via the newsletter too...I know a while ago, they found some, but they went away. Along with some Lincoln ones, I think, too. Hm. Usually ebay is the best bet, though, although it seems they usually have mostly just Concert Posters, which I tend to not really like very much, as it often seems to be by someone who doesn't really get the band, and/or doesn't really have a good design sense, so... yeah.

Yeah, and I also think it would be kind of weird to have a poster advertising a particular show that I didn't even go to.

I've had luck with eBay. I got a sweet Apollo 18 poster there about 4 years ago. Just keep checking, cool ones pop up from time to time. Mink Car ones are the easiest to find, it seems; they seemed to show up all the time while I was looking. And of course there's the Gigantic ones still available, too.

You mean that Apollo 18 poster with the horns on it? That's a great poster. It's been on my wall for many years. I always wanted that yellowish Factory Showroom poster, but I could never find it on ebay for what I wanted to pay.

Yeah, the one with the horns! Unfortunately the assclown who sent it to me shipped it in a triangular cardboard box (not a shipping tube) so it got these kind of accordion folds in it. Appropriate, I suppose. They're not that noticeable anymore, it was just annoying because it was probably mint condition before he sent it. Still love it though. I had to fight pretty hard for it on eBay.

I liked the Kool-Aid Man jokes on FG last night. The Betty White jokes though were played out. Yes, haha an old actress reading something dirty. How funny. Lollerskates everywhere [/saracasm]

Yeah, I guess that WAS kind of an easy joke.

It was kind of an easy joke, but I think it really was Betty White doing her own voice, so I give it a lot of credit for that. Not that I don't like it, when they use their own people for celebrity voices.

There WERE some on eBay, but they were all for specific shows, and I'd prefer something more general. Besides, I didn't care for most of the pictures on them. But I'll keep checking.
