Happy Easter, to those of you who celebrate it! And to those of you who don't, happy first Sunday after the first full moon of spring, whatever you choose to call it! And to those of you for whom it no longer IS Easter, happy belated Easter! Or happy belated first Sun...oh, you get the idea. I'm not even going to get into Orthodox Easter.

[livejournal.com profile] bethe and I did not dye eggs last night. We did in past years, but neither of us felt like it this time.

In my dream last night, I found out that the New Pornographers had appeared in an old Simpsons episode, but I somehow hadn't been aware of this for years. I think they mentioned it in one of the DVD commentaries. I wouldn't be surprised if the particular episode varied throughout the dream, but at one point, it was definitely "Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming." Did they even exist as a band back when they made that episode? This says they formed in 1997, the year after that episode first aired, so I guess not.

No new Simpsons tonight, but they finally reran the Family Guy episode that I missed back in December, and it was a good one. I remember hearing people talking about Bill Lumberg's appearance, Lindsay Lohan's crab walk, and Stewie in the Sesame Street pinball machine; and now I know what they meant. So that's cool. I also saw part of a special on Heaven and Hell. Those things always interest me, but I've noticed that they pretty much always have at least one person trying to defend the existence of Hell with an argument that runs something like, "God doesn't really WANT to put people in Hell, but then again, He kinda does. But not really."

And I also decided to copy [livejournal.com profile] zimbra1006 in creating a collage of my favorite albums.

Like [livejournal.com profile] zimbra1006, I limited myself to one album per band/artist, or closely linked set of bands (Frank Black/Pixies, Camper Van Beethoven/Cracker, etc.). There was some gray area here, though. Even though Neko Case is in the New Pornographers, she's not the Leading Person in that band, so I put one album by each of them. It's a similar deal with the Young Fresh Fellows and Fastbacks, who have Kurt Bloch in common.

For some reason, they didn't have images for the Sugarplastic's Bang, the Earth Is Round or (more suprisingly) "Weird Al" Yankovic's In 3-D, so I used other albums by these same artists instead. They also didn't have Lincoln's album, but there was nothing to replace it with.

Incidentally, don't the covers for Skylarking (third row, middle image) and Mass Romantic (sixth row, last image) look like they're along very much the same lines, even if they're in quite different styles? Like there was an art class, and they said, "Okay, today you'll be drawing pictures based on the theme of Naked Couples Outdoors"?

This slow Internet connection is really getting to me. It isn't even the slowness so much as when the computer just gives up trying to load a page, and essentially says, "Eh, I don't think I'll bother loading the rest of this. Here's half the page, with some red X's in place of the pictures." Maybe the programmers' work ethic (or lack thereof) somehow rubs off on the machines.
