Mar. 13th, 2006 01:36 pmLast night's Simpsons and Family Guy episodes were among the best in recent memory. In the former, I thought the idea of stories-within-stories was great, and I liked the way it all came together at the end. I also liked the meta-humor, and I thought the way Burns temporarily lost his fortune this time actually made more sense than how it happened in "The Old Man and the Lisa." Moe's story was apparently a flashback to the summer before the ever-changing present in which the show has been operating since the beginning, which was pretty clever. A few jokes fell a little flat. A character unexpectedly saying "bitch" isn't automatically funny (
bethje had much the same complaint about Alexander Graham Bell doing the same thing in "The Girl Who Slept Too Little"), and as for Lenny's one line, there are few things more disturbing than adult babies. Overall, though, it was an excellent episode. Finally, was the short guy from the Excluders who started the scavenger hunt supposed to be a reference to something? He wasn't drawn like a typical Simpsons character.
As for Family Guy, I thought Quagmire's change in personality was funny. I also liked the Bill of Rights gag, and the Adam West bits.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Fox Sunday night lineup is made up of garbage. Does ANYONE actually enjoy The War at Home, or is it a case of the show getting ratings because people are too lazy to change the channel? And I didn't watch any of Free Ride, but it really looks horrible, not to mention that it appears to be remarkably similar to Fox's other crappy-looking mid-season replacement, The Loop.

You Are... Mysterious Tori!
You're the one who has everyone captivated. There's
something about you that fascinates. People
all over the world are drawn to that quality
that they can't just put their finger on. And
that's just how you like it.
