Hey, today is [livejournal.com profile] bethje's and my anniversary! Well, not quite, because we were actually married on the 29th, but we decided to celebrate it more often than every fourth year. We both worked during the day, but in the evening we went out to the Olive Garden and exchanged gifts. I am now the proud owner of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and the first set of Popeye cartoons on DVD, as well as The Bouncy Bunnies in Oz and A Baffling Book About Bunnybury of Oz. She claims she didn't even realize she was ordering two different books with "bunny" in the title.

We did watch part of the Oscars, although that was Beth's idea rather than mine. It DID enable me to understand comments made on my Twitter feed, however. It's not that I have any problem with the Oscars, but I don't get why people take them so seriously. It's just the movie industry celebrating itself, you know? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I have to wonder why it's of any relevance to those of us outside the industry. For what it's worth, I'd actually seen the winner for Best Picture this year, so I did better than usual. I mostly like fantasy and the Academy doesn't, except when it comes to the technical categories. Also, I think I might find Anne Hathaway a bit overrated. Nothing against her, really, just that I don't think she's the cutest girl in Hollywood like other people seem to. Then again, I've said that about other celebrities, only to see a few really good pictures or a quote I agree with or something shortly after that, and then suddenly changed from indifferent to all over them. It's easy to be suggestible when all you have is a person's public image, I suppose.
