Our Ocean City Adventure

Okay, there wasn't much of an adventure involved, but we DID go to Ocean City. The one in New Jersey, that is. Let me start at the beginning, though.

Today was a day off work for bethje, but she had a scary-sounding doctor's appointment. She's supposed to get her wisdom teeth taken out, but the dental surgeon is being paranoid, and making her get all these unnecessary blood tests. They sent her to a hematologist and made her go back again today for another test to see how long it took for her to stop bleeding. It turned out to just be a little prick (no dirty jokes, please), but I couldn't help imagining them slicing up her arm and having the blood pour out. They had her arm in one of those inflatable cuffs that they use to take blood pressure, and it made her light-headed, so she passed out. I knew she was sometimes prone to this, but it's the first time I'd actually seen it first-hand, and it was weird. Fortunately, she came to pretty quickly, but it looked like it had taken a lot out of her.

After she'd recovered and I'd gotten a little more rest, we made our trip to Ocean City. It wasn't too thrilling, as all we did was walk the entire length of the boardwalk (a little more than two and a half miles each way), but it was nice, if hot.

We had considered riding some of the rides at Wonderland, but they were pricey. Also, Beth has her heart set on riding the Whip, and it turned out they only had a kiddie-sized Whip at that park. What's interesting about the Ocean City boardwalk is that, for the part that doesn't have the shops and arcades for tourists, there are some really fancy houses with ornate gardens.
