Yesterday was the third birthday of [livejournal.com profile] bethje's dog Dewey.

On Monday night, Beth and I watched some more Season 4 Simpsons commentaries, as well as some old cartoons from old dollar store tapes. In addition to being generally crappy, some of them were blatantly racist. One in particular (a Little Audrey cartoon) included a character drawn as probably the most offensive caricature of a black woman I've ever seen.

We were thinking of going to Great Adventure today, but it turns out that it's closed, for some reason. We really should go there sometime soon, so we can get the season passes that we paid for.

Since I don't have much else relevant to report, I'm going to use the rest of this essay to rant about things that I doubt anyone is interested in. You've been warned.

Essentially, I find it annoying how so many people are pro-violence when there's little chance of violence being perpetrated against them. How many pro-war people are in no danger of having to fight in these wars they support? Then there are those people (often, but not always, on the young side) who say they're anarchists, revolutionists, Social Darwinists, or whatever, when they're not likely to last long if there really WERE some kind of all-out war in their area. I tend to be quite conscious of the fact that I'm a wimp, and I'd really rather not support a position that makes me even more susceptible to violence than I already am. Sure, violence is natural to an extent, but that doesn't mean it's a desired state.
