Last night, Bill O'Reilly said something about the demise of Air America, based on something he'd read on Blogspot. This is the same guy who once cited an AOL poll in one of his stories. Apparently the validity of the source is totally irrelevant, as long as he agrees with it. I can't wait until he says something like, "According to some graffiti I saw on the men's room wall, Americans oppose gay marriage. They also think Suzie W. is a slut."

I got this survey from [livejournal.com profile] unclemilo. I'm leaving out the first question, which is "eleven people you like to chill with (in no specific order)," since I can't think of eleven people who fit the bill. That's okay, though, because it makes it an even ten questions, and I like round numbers.

TEN things we'd find in your grocery cart:
01 -- Cheese
02 -- Bread
03 -- Ham
04 -- Frozen pizzas
05 -- Hot Pockets
06 -- Frozen pot pies
07 -- Goldfish crackers
08 -- Fruit juice
09 -- Saltine crackers
10 -- Instant oatmeal

NINE things I'm wearing:
01 -- Green shirt
02 -- Black pants
03 -- Dark blue underpants
04 -- One black sock
05 -- Another black sock
06 -- A watch
07 -- My own skin
08 -- A face that I keep in a jar by the door
09 -- Fingernails

EIGHT things on my Mind:
01 -- I wish the web pages I'm trying to load would do so.
02 -- This song is pretty cool.
03 -- The song is "I Don't Want To Get Over You," by the Magnetic Fields, by the way.
04 -- I wonder if I should watch any more Futurama episodes with commentary today.
05 -- This chair isn't very comfortable.
06 -- It's hard to come up with so many responses.
07 -- Good thing each subsequent question requires less of them.
08 -- I'm hungry.

SEVEN items I Touch everyday:
01 -- The clothes I'm putting on that day
02 -- My toothbrush
03 -- Deodorant (well, the deodorant CONTAINER, anyway)
04 -- Water
05 -- A computer keyboard
06 -- A mouse (the computer kind)
07 -- Food

SIX things I Do everyday:
01 -- Eat
02 -- Sleep
03 -- Breathe
04 -- Use the computer
05 -- Use the bathroom
06 -- Say words

FIVE things I want to Do before I die:
01 -- Have a book published.
02 -- Get a full-time job.
03 -- Visit another foreign country (aside from Canada, that is).
04 -- Learn to play an instrument.
05 -- Post this LJ entry.

FOUR things I will Never do:
01 -- Travel into space
02 -- Murder someone
03 -- Learn magic (unfortunately)
04 -- Join a hate group

THREE things I Do when I wake up:
01 -- Feel groggy
02 -- Use the bathroom
03 -- Think of what I need to during the day

TWO of my favorite foods:
01 -- Pizza
02 -- Pasta

ONE person I love more than any other:
01 -- Not really a fair question, but if you're talking about the romantic kind of love, it's definitely [livejournal.com profile] bethje.

I wish the food one had been higher up. Oh, well.

Pretty much any kind of countdown reminds me of the one that They Might Be Giants used to use to open their shows. "It's time TWO sit back and make way for the ONE band that can overcome the ZERO in their bank account. I don't mean to be the NEGATIVE ONE, but you'd be NEGATIVE TWO if it weren't for the great show you were about to see." I wish they'd do openings like that now. "Space Crickets" just doesn't cut it. Actually, the first time I saw them (in April 1997), they did the Critic Intro, which is now on Then.

Tomorrow, I should be getting my car washed, and going out to eat. Sounds like fun, huh? {g}

I wonder if it was a blog quoting what the site Radio Ink had to say:

John Mainelli reports in the New York Post that the liberal-leaning Talk Radio network Air America may soon be homeless in New York City as the network's two-year lease with their flagship station WLIB runs out on April 1.

Mainelli reports that a reliable source says it is "extremely likely" the deal with WLIB owner Inner City will not be renewed.

Isn't the NYP nothing more than a gossip tabloid?

Pretty much, and perhaps more importantly, it's another part of Rupert Murdoch's media empire. I wonder if anyone has heard any of these "Air America is failing/stealing money from orphans/funded by donations from Satan" stories from a source NOT affiliated with Murdoch.

My area doesn't have an Air America affiliate at all, but I'd probably listen to it if we did.

I used to listen to Air America all the time, but it lost its spark for me. Al Franken was fun. My favorite show was Marc Meron's. But it all suffered from the same problems that any talk radio suffers from. It's talk radio.

I'm just saying, I wouldn't be surprised if Air America went out of business. I neve hear anybody go, "OMG! You wouldn't beleive what I heard on Air America last night!!"

I downloaded 2 Jeneane Garafolo shows back in 2004 when Ed Helms was a guest. The show was alright.

You could be right. It's a new network that might be having trouble finding its audience. It might not even HAVE that much of a potential audience, but it's kind of hard to tell when it hasn't been around very long, and isn't even carried in a lot of markets. And as I said, I've never heard it, so I have no idea whether it's actually any good. I like Al Franken, but I really don't know much about any of the other hosts on there. I'm pretty much indifferent to Garofalo, not being familiar with her work (as a comedian, actress, or political commentator).

That said, how often DO people talk about what they heard on ANY radio show? And I think I have reason to distrust O'Reilly, who has a personal vendetta against Franken, on this matter. He could be right, but I'm going to have to hear it from a more reliable source before I believe it.

And, of course, if anyone DISAGREES with him, they're obviously brainwashed by Far-Left propaganda ("Far-Left" presumably meaning "anyone who might occasionally think that treating poor people like dirt might not be such a good idea").
