It seems like I haven't been receiving that many comments or replies as of late. Have I been that boring?
This actually made me think of something that comes to mind every once in a while, which is that LiveJournal isn't really conducive to conversations. Or, more accurately, it's not conducive to conversations with more than two (or, in some cases, three) participants. Since only the person being replied to directly and the person who made the original post (who are often the same) receive e-mail notification of comments, other people won't know if a comment thread is getting interesting unless they actually go back and check. And who wants to do that? It's not like an e-mail list, newsgroup, or bulletin board, where the system notifies people of new messages that aren't direct replies to them. It IS a different medium, of course, and it wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that most of my online social interaction these days comes through LJ. The e-mail lists I'm on tend to be slow; and I rarely get the chance to check my newsgroups, which tend not to be that interesting when I DO read them.
There's supposed to be a winter storm in my area tomorrow evening, and here I am planning on attending a concert in Philadelphia. Fortunately, I won't need to do much actual driving, so as long as the trains run on time [1], I should be fine. I still hate winter weather, though.
For
bethje and me, last night's movie was Hellraiser VI: Hellseeker. I actually thought this one was pretty good. One thing that I like about the Hellraiser series is that they do go in quite different directions with different movies; it's not just "Pinhead kills a bunch of people" every time. Hellseeker had some definite similarities to Inferno, the fifth movie in the series, but I liked Hellseeker better. Among other improvements, it did a better job of tying up the loose ends, and of revealing just a little at a time about why the main character deserves torment in Hell. I also liked that it tied in more with the earlier movies, while still managing to be different.

Date: 2006-02-10 11:45 pm (UTC)One of the benefits of having a relatively short friends list is old posts stay on the friends page longer... and I DO tend to go back and read other people's comments. Then I'll go and comment something to a perfect stranger... always good times...

Date: 2006-02-11 04:19 am (UTC)I look at my LJ friends' friends pages occasionally, and the people who don't have a lot of other friends often tend to have, like, half the page taken up by my entries. Does that mean I write too much? :P

Date: 2006-02-11 04:22 am (UTC)I think it would be nice if the comment alert system at least alerted everyone involved in a certain thread. I mean, you should be able to opt out if you DON'T want those alerts, but it should be POSSIBLE to get them.

Date: 2006-02-11 01:15 am (UTC)Neither have I. And I think slightly more than half of my friends list is MIA. I think it's a general lull in livejournaling and responding.
Hmm... I love winter weather :D

Date: 2006-02-11 04:24 am (UTC)I always get repetitive during the winter. I'm not sure how many posts I've made that basically say, "I hate snow and ice," but it's a lot.
