I added the tracklists for a few of the mix CD's I've made recently to the wiki that [livejournal.com profile] revme is always pimping. I'll probably write up some song descriptions at some point.

Speaking of mix CD's, if anyone wants a copy of my religion mix or my end-of-the-year mix (which is coming soon; I'm almost done with the tracklist, but I'd like to add something from the new live Rasputina album), let me know. If you'd like a Christmas card from me, let me know that, too. I'll probably mail out all of those things within the next few weeks.

Tonight's Simpsons episode was pretty good. The main plot treads the somewhat familiar territory of Marge having trouble fitting in and making friends. It does so in a clever new way, though. I did think Marge agreed to the theft a little too easily, considering how moral she usually is. I'm not saying they shouldn't have had her agree to it eventually, just that I would have expected a little more internal conflict. Homer also switched from trying to stop Marge to joining her awfully quickly, but that's a little more believable. Homer came across more as well-meaning but stupid than a total jerkass, which was good. Most of the laughs actually came from Lisa's subplot, though. It's usually pretty cool when a loser character turns out to be surprisingly good at something, and Milhouse's skill at Italian was no exception. I liked the explanation as to how he learned it so well, and the whole Little Italy sequence. Another particularly funny bit in the episode was Chief Wiggum and Lou's argument.

As for Family Guy, the doctor's schtick was a good example of a joke that worked better the longer they extended it. I also liked the cavemen singing "For The Longest Time." I didn't particularly care for the subplot with Peter's society of fat people, but they did manage to tie that in with the plot about Lois' brother, so that was cool.

I actually thought tonight's American Dad was pretty good, and it finally included a title-worthy quote. {g} There were also some other jokes that I thought worked pretty well, like Dr. Seuss's typewriter, Steve's attempts to be a "bad boy," and the admission that the beginning was meant to screw with the audience.

The cucumber joke had me dying on tonight's Family Guy. I missed the first mention of the cucumber turning into a pickle (I think it was when Lois asked out aloud why a pickle was on the couch) but I got it when she asked Brian about it.

The first reference to the cucumber turning into a pickle was from the conversation Brian and Stewie had when they first put the cucumber on the couch, but I don't remember the exact context.

Dr. Seuss' typewriter made me laugh. I also cracked up about the part where Roger stubbed his toe. I'm not really sure why, but i found "the worst part is over!" really, really funny.

anyways, i'd love a mix cd or christmas card or whatever. i keep meaning to listen to some non-Pixies Frank Black stuff, but I never get around to it. Also, if you email me your address, I will send you some sort of schweet christmas-y present-mo-bob.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. Most of Roger's parts in that episode were, really.

You can just e-mail me your address, and I'll send those CD's.

w00t, thanks for doin' stuff with the wiki and mentioning it! I also threw in the links to your mixes on the Existing Artist Pages for you, so you don't need to worry about that. So, yeah, that's cool! I am glad that you're doin' it, because it always gets kinda depressing when you're all "hey, check this out!" and the no one does, heh.

Mix CDs are grand. I'm working on a couple too. Not sure if I'll have an xmas card or not this year. (If it is, it'd be the first year, pretty much.)

I'm waitin' for the shows on my end, so I don't know how they'll be. But they sound good! And I like the way the Doctor's Schtick sounds, because I like those jokes quite a bit. (Though I didn't care for the recent Brian/Stewie thing from last season about Brian's novel. Though I did like the callback.. last week?.. where Stewie started that and Brian popped him.)

So, yes! Hooray! And hopefully American Dad will continue to be good. (I remember thinking it was decent last week.)

Thanks. I really wish the wiki code would be set up to update stuff like that automatically. Oh, well.

I'm not really sure what the "RIYL" sections on the artist pages mean. Are they just for similar and/or related bands? That's what it looks like, but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I know how that is.

I liked this week's episode better than last week's, but that one wasn't bad either. The show is definitely improving, I think.

Yeah -- I'm not sure if ther's a way to do that. Presumably if one of us were smart enough to set up a bot, but it ain't me. (I"m not sure if Wikicities can HAVE bots, since I think you need to have server access anyway.) It'd be really awesome to have all sorts of stuff like that being automated, though.

RIYL stands for "Recommended If You Like", so -- yeah, pretty much similar bands in sound. Not necessarily related, but often times that works too (i.e., if you like Mono Puff, you'll most likely like at least half of They Might Be Giants' stuff).

hahahaha, Family Guy rocked. I wasn't sure about the Fat Guy Collective subplot, but it worked pretty well. I liked Stewie's last line. And the Pickle. Oh, man. Man.

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining it.

It comes from trade magazines, and I reemember staring at that for about 2 years while reading CMJ, until it him me how to unpack "RIYL". So, yeah, heh.

I had posted the link in my journal, but I thought I'd mention it directly to you. I don't know if you've ever seen Zombie College or not, but I thought I should suggest it to you as it makes use of so much talent from Futurama. If you've seen it, never mind. If you haven't, I hope you enjoy it.

I was thinking of making you a mix CD sometime soon, so I'll look up your e-mail address again and write you there to request your snail mail.

Some of those cartoons were pretty funny. Thanks for the link!

Any time. Glad to help.

I think the only episode that I didn't like was the one with the zombie love scene with them eating each other's brains while the romantic music plays. Just a bit much for me.

Yeah, I think I would have to agree. The scene just goes on a little too long, especially considering how short the episodes are.
