Happy Halloween to everyone reading this! Last night, [livejournal.com profile] bethje and I went on the same haunted hayride that we'd taken the last few years. It was mostly the same, but they change a few things every year. In previous years, a kid has come out of a cauldron to dance to Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" or Michael Jackson's "Bad." This year, however, the kid was dressed as SpongeBob, and they played the theme from his show. They also added some rapping skeletons, but that part went on too long and had no real scares or jokes beyond the obvious. They still had the peeing skeletons, though. It isn't really the Halloween season until you've seen the peeing skeletons.

At dinner, I tried some of those new chicken fries from Burger King. I liked them, and I wouldn't mind getting them again. I'm someone who usually gets chicken at fast food restaurants, and I used to not like Burger King much because they only had one relatively flavorless chicken sandwich. They've since introduced the Tendercrisp sandwich, though, and that's almost (but not quite) of Chick-fil-A quality. And now they have the chicken fries, so they now more than meet my chicken-eating needs.

Back at Beth's house, we watched House, a movie Beth had seen in her childhood, but I'd never seen before. It was pretty good, and it starred both George Wendt and Richard Moll. After that, we watched a History Channel documentary on the Salem Witch Trials. I already knew a lot of the stuff they talked about, but I don't remember hearing about the spectral evidence before. Basically, the court allowed testimony where the accuser claimed to have seen a specter around the accused, but nobody else could see it. And these Puritans are the people we honor with Thanksgiving? That's a story for another holiday, though.

I had one dream last night where I was watching some kind of Discworld adaptation on TV, and I was mad because they dubbed in the Librarian's thoughts in English. (The Librarian, for those of you who don't know, is an orangutan.) Then there was another dream where Beth had given me a book of vintage posters, and one of them was an old circus poster that included some of the words to the circus barker's spiel that's sampled in the Young Fresh Fellows song "View From Above." Something about, "A woman who had a head that came to a point like an ice cream cone. She had no more brains than a monkey." Anyway, I thought it would be cool to scan the poster and put it up on the Internet, but, alas, it doesn't really exist.

Yeah, like Beth would wear a Star Wars costume! On the other hand, [livejournal.com profile] jazzsammich and [livejournal.com profile] unclemilo's costumes sound about right. And since [livejournal.com profile] listenesmerelda and [livejournal.com profile] boorulesforever are actually the same person, she must have taken off her ditch outfit sometime during the night. I can't say I blame her; it doesn't sound like it would be very comfortable.

The weird thing is that I thought horse costumes usually required TWO people.
