This post is made up entirely of memes and such (plus some comments from me), so I'm going to cut the whole thing.

I don't think I'm particularly feminine. I'm not particularly masculine either, though, at least not in the stereotypical way. I'm neither strong nor nurturing. I saw an article recently that said men and women really aren't that different anyway. bethje told me that my journal writing is generally more masculine, because it's focused more on events than on feelings. That's probably true.

I've seen this trick-or-treating meme around before, and I decided to go ahead and do it. I think I have the world's meanest friends list, though.

A related, and possibly more interesting, idea might be to list albums that you've heard a bunch of times and still DON'T know all the lyrics to. Let me try it:

02. Moxy Früvous - Wood (I'm not that great on remembering lyrics in languages I don't know, and this album has a rather lengthy song sung entirely in French.)
03. The Young Fresh Fellows - The Fabulous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest (The lyrics don't seem to be written down anywhere, and there are some that I still can't quite work out. Scott McCaughey got better at enunciating on later albums.)
04. XTC - Go 2 (Andy Partridge is another singer who learned the value of enunciation a few albums into his career.)
05. Pixies - Surfer Rosa (More foreign lyrics, and this time they're ungrammatical foreign lyrics. Not that that makes that much of a difference.)

That's the one thing that sucks about the YFF CDs is that the LPs pretty much had a lot of cool liner note art and lyrics and everything, and only a few of them mirror that. (Totally Lost; Low Beat, I know of anyway. Need to find vinyl copies of Men Who Loved Music and This One's For The Ladies, though.)

My copy of the CD for The Men Who Loved Music has a story about the recording of the album, and credits written in a bunch of different fonts and accompanied by pictures. This One's for the Ladies has a few pictures and brief credits. Neither one has the lyrics included. I assume this is common to all CD liners for these albums, but I don't know for sure. I really wish they'd include everything from the vinyl releases in the CD cases.

I remember hearing that some CD's (including some of the XTC remasters, I believe) simply reproduced the vinyl liners in minimized form, which made the lyrics too small to read. I don't think that's a particularly good idea, either.

At least CD's are usually better than cassettes. I have most of my Weird Al albums on cassette, and most of them don't even have the entire cover picture (which is especially annoying for the self-titled album and Dare To Be Stupid), let alone anything from the liners.

My CDs of those YFF ones are the same, but I don't know what the LP inner sleeves look like, though, s'all I meant.

My remaster of English Settlement (the only one I deemed truly necessary has the tiny reproduction, but also includes a folded up, actually readable lyric sheet. So, that works. If the others all have those, I could see doing that as a good solution, but that wouldn't work at all with the YFF stuff, unless the folded lyric sheet were just a 12" reproduction of the entire inner sleeve, since they're loaded with tiny writing and tiny drawings.

My tape of Dare to be Stupid had some liner notes, but mainly Who Played What, and nothing more. IIRC, that's the only one up until Even Worse that I had that had _anything_.

Yeah, my DTBS, Polka Party!, and UHF cassettes had those bare-bones liner notes. I don't think my In 3-D or Even Worse had anything at all.

It's funny, because I know UHF had the barebones notes. I don't _think_ Polka Party actually had anything though. I know In 3-D didn't, and I got my cassette of Even Worse right as it came out, so it actually had a fold out of notes and everything... in fact, the cassette I have actually has more liners than the CD, I think.

From what I've heard, I think all the Weird Al cassettes were originally published with at least the bare-bones liner notes, if not complete ones. After a while, they decided to save money by not including them anymore. I got most of those cassettes pretty long after they were released, so there's no telling how long any of them were on the shelves. The only cassette I got (well, actually, my brother got it for Christmas, but I've listened to it a lot more than he has) when it was fairly new was Alapalooza, which had the complete liners. I'd switched over to CD's by the time Bad Hair Day came out.

No, that one had the liner notes. It just wasn't that new when I bought it. I guess I didn't phrase that very well. Sorry.
