bethje and I watched Hellraiser 3 last night. I must say it wasn't as good as the second one. I think one of the main things I liked about Part 2 were the designs for Hell, which was barely shown in 3. And what was up with the new Cenobytes? One had a TV camera in his face, and another threw CD's at people. I'll give them points for originality, but they weren't particularly creepy. I did appreciate the expansion of Pinhead's back story, though.

I had a dream last night that I was wandering about a building that was designed like my old elementary school. Well, like my old elementary school used to be before they demolished the old building, anyway. I think I was trying to find a place to cash my paycheck. There were several churches in the building, as well as a huge cafeteria and a basement containing casinos or something. This really isn't a particularly unusual sort of dream for me. I remember having another dream some years ago where I was at a school that was also a mall, and had some lava pits as well.

I really hated Hellraiser 3 as well. Some of the backstory was interesting, but why was Pinhead's persona so evil that it could survive apart from Pinhead, the person? Why not anyone else? The Cenobytes created at the club just seemed stupid to me and not anywhere near as terrifying as the originals. Really a let down after the first two.

Speaking of horror movies, I finally saw Alien Vs. Predator the other day. What an amazing piece of crap that was. I loved watching all the Alien and Predator movies, but that was just dumb. Neither the plot, characterizations, nor tie-in to the others movies held any interest for me.

Have you seen any of the later Hellraiser movies? Do they get better, or is the quality of 3 about what I should expect from the rest?

I've only seen a few minutes of one of the Alien movies, and none of the Predator films, so I doubt I'd get much out of Alien vs. Predator anyway. I liked Freddy vs. Jason, though.

The Predator movies are decent. A very interesting concept in a horror movie.

The Alien movies were incredible. I really mean that. I still find them to be some of the more frightening & entertaining movies (best if watched in order). I would highly suggest watching them when you have the opportunity, I don't think you'd regret it.

I'm afraid I can't comment about the later Hellraiser movies. After seeing 3, I didn't think I could bear seeing any more of them. If you see them, let me know if I should bother coming back to the fold.
