bethje continued our trend of watching Halloween or horror-related films last night with
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. It wasn't really what I expected. While the first movie played out fairly realistically, the second one was totally wacky. It even included a chainsaw duel, which was quite similar to the one in
Motel Hell. Another significant difference that I saw was how much more the characters talked in the sequel. The original had a lot of scenes where it was either quiet, or the sounds were just chainsaws, screaming, and such. Part of this was probably due to the introduction of Chop Top (played by Bill Moseley, later of
House of 1000 Corpses fame), but I think the cook (the only character to be played by the same actor in both films, at least according to the IMDB) talked more this time around, too. So, yeah. Not much like the first, but I didn't notice any obvious continuity errors, and it was pretty interesting.
Okay, so, as a general rule, if someone replies to one of my posts or comments, I check out their journal. I mean, I'd want them to do the same for me, so why not? The thing is, I recently made a post to the
discworld community that got over 30 replies, and trying to read everyone's journal is a bit tedious. Which isn't to say that they're boring individually, certainly, just that it's a lot to try to take in. Maybe I need to revise my unwritten journal-reading rules somewhat. Perhaps I should try only reading their last two or three entries. (My old rule was to go back a month.)
To finish out this entry, I have two quiz results. Before I actually get to them, though, I have a general thought on these Internet-based quizzes. Am I the only one who, when seeing the responses I can choose from, thinks that none of them are relevant, or wishes I could explain my answer? I know the result is totally insignificant, yet I still like to give answers that are as accurate as possible. I'm not sure what that says about me. Maybe someone should create a quiz to find out. {g}
 | You scored as Hadrian. You are the great emperor Hadrian. Not only great for the fact that he didn't mess something up, but he relentlessly administered the empire and set viable borders. Art, cultivation and wisdom mark your reign. The fact that you prefer the boys really helps with the wise handing over of the purple to only the most qualified.

Date: 2005-10-07 02:07 am (UTC)I don't post to that many high-traffic groups either, and when I do, it's usually a reply instead of an original post. The latter tend to get a lot more responses, and hence provide me with a lot more journals I feel I should at least check out.

Date: 2005-10-07 02:12 am (UTC)I'm not likely to ever make my entire journal "friends only," because I WANT strangers to see my posts. I guess if I were writing about highly personal stuff, I'd make more locked entries, but I'd still want to make SOME public posts. I have to wonder if, when someone locks every entry, they're really talking about something incredibly personal and private every time. Somehow, I doubt it.

Date: 2005-10-07 02:43 am (UTC)Most of the time friends only journals are "I wish I was dead I want to kill myself boo hoo hooo" journals that don't have the comments feature turned on. I don't befriend friends only journals anymore. People add me with them and I don't add them back.
