He's Gump, he's Gump, what's in his head?

I recently went into an EB Games where they were showing Return to Oz, which was pretty cool. I saw part of the scene where the main characters were flying to the Nome Kingdom on the Gump. I saw the movie before reading any of the Oz books, but once I did read the books, I noticed that the filmmakers got the Gump's voice wrong. The [Marvelous] Land of Oz describes the Gump as having "a squeaky voice not at all proportioned to the size of its great body." He has a deep voice in the film. That's a minor nitpick, I'm sure, but I like it when they keep those kinds of minor details consistent.

In other news, I finally was able to get somewhere in Phantasy Star. I managed to get the roadpass, which let me reach the spaceport and fly to the planet Motavia. There, I got Myau to join the party, and then returned to Palma to rescue Odin. There are several places I can go now, but my other party members (especially Myau) keep dying. I guess I should do some level-building before I tackle any of the caves.

10. Bright or Dark Room? Depends on what I'm doing in it. If it's not sleeping, though, I usually like it fairly bright.

11. What do you think about the person who took this survey before you? Well, she was the first person to take MY survey, so that makes her pretty cool right there.

12. Ever "spilled the beans"? as in told a secret about somebody? I don't think so.

13. What were you doing at midnight last night? Watching TV, I believe.

14. Word for word: What did your message you received on your phone say? I don't remember. (No, that's not what it said. I mean I really can't remember.)

15. Do you ever click on "Pop Ups" or Banners? I've done so accidentally on occasion, but I always close the new windows as soon as I realize what I've done.

16. What's a saying that you say a lot? "You know?", or sometimes "You know what I'm saying?"

19. How many hours a week do you work? 21, usually. It varies sometimes.

20. How many rolls of film do you need to get developed? None. I hardly ever take pictures. I should probably change that.

21. Favorite age you have been so far? I don't know. My early twenties were pretty cool, I guess.

22. Your worst enemy? Track 7 on Factory Showroom

23 What is your current desktop picture? Wallpaper based on The Living House of Oz. I've had that up for a while, though, so I should probably change it soon.

24. What was the last thing you said to someone? Probably "good night" to Beth.

25. If you had to choose between a million bucks or to be able to change a major regret? Well, they say screwing with the space-time continuum can cause terrible problems, so I think I'll just take the money.

im so glad im not the only person who knitpicked the Gump's voice. I feel somewhat vindicated.

I think Baum liked to describe characters' voices as being other than you might expect, but the only case of this I can think of aside from the Gump is the hideous King Terribus in The Enchanted Island of Yew, who has a pleasant voice. Actually, I think Zog might have been like that as well.
