I saw a few copies of Terry Pratchett's new book, Thud!, at Borders today. I didn't know it was out yet, so that's cool. I read the beginning of the book, and it's pretty cool so far. I didn't buy it, though. I'm always getting coupons for Borders, but they're never valid at times when they might actually be useful. Actually, I DO have one that's good through Sunday where I can get $10 off a $40 purchase, but that means I'd have to add something else. While I'm sure I COULD find something, would I really be saving much money if I did that? And is that a particularly good deal anyway? Too bad the companion book, Where's My Cow?, isn't out yet, because together they would have cost just a little over $40.

While at Borders, I also took a look at the new book about Belle and Sebastian. I'd be interested in reading it, especially since I like their music a lot but usually can't figure out what the songs are actually ABOUT, but I don't really want to pay $17 for a hardcover copy. Maybe I'll wait for the paperback, or see if the library gets it (although I doubt they will).

To pad out this entry, I'm going to throw in a few top five lists that nobody asked me to write, but I wanted to do anyway.

Oh yeah -- I just got yer CD in the mail just a few minutes ago, thanks! Haven't heard it yet (well, obviously, since I just got it a few minutes ago, and that'd require some sort of space-time bending to listen to a CD that's probably in the neighborhood of about an hour, hour 20 long in a few minutes time), but it looks pretty cool, and looking at it, the only track I have is Chick Habit, but that's OK, because it is AWESOME. (Also kind of funny, because, IIRC, I've gotten that one on another mix CD too! People dig that song. Which is understandable, because, well, it's "Chick Habit".)

So, yes! Thanks!

You're welcome. I hope you like it! I was trying to go for songs/artists you wouldn't have heard before, but you know a lot of music, so I figured there might be a few things you already knew. With this in mind, I guess the fact that there's only one means I did my job pretty well. {g}

Huh, I didn't know it was out yet either. But I'm probably too cheap to buy it-- I wonder when the library will get it. Maybe I'll just go and sit in a bookstore and read it there. Wonder if I can get away with that.

I don't think it's out everywhere. Borders had a few copies, but Amazon doesn't list it as coming out until Tuesday. I guess it's a situation where some stores/areas got it before others. Or maybe Borders put it out early, and since it doesn't have "Harry Potter" in the title, nobody really cares that much. :P

I haven't been buying most of the recent Discworld books, although I plan to go back and do so at some point. I used to always buy them when I was at college, since the library in Indiana never got the new ones (at the time of our junior year, they had exactly three books from the series: The Colour of Magic, Sourcery, and Wyrd Sisters), but the library around here always gets them. There's pretty much always a waiting list for the new ones, though, so I put myself on the waiting list. If I end up buying it, I can always cancel the hold. I sort of wanted to buy it because I'm planning on going to a signing on Wednesday, but my plan now is to either buy it at the signing (maybe there will be some kind of discount, although I tend to doubt it), or else just wait for the library copy. Either way, I'll bring a different book to the signing. If I don't buy it at the signing but decide I want to own it, I'll probably order it from Amazon, since they're selling it for considerably less than Borders.

Maybe I'll just go and sit in a bookstore and read it there. Wonder if I can get away with that.

Probably. Bookstores, especially the big chain ones, seem to be pretty lax about that kind of thing nowadays. And they usually have pretty comfortable chairs, too.

Dr. Wily never gives up, does he? At least there were a couple Mario games where Bowser didn't show up, but Wily is behind EVERY plot Mega Man has to deal with.
