Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] revme and the Universal Trendsetter website, I've now seen the Young Fresh Fellows' videos for the YFF Theme, "Still There's Hope," and "Picture Book." They're pretty much what I would have expected from YFF--fairly casual and a lot of fun. I wonder if there's any significance to the pictures in the "Picture Book" video. I'm pretty sure some of them were drummer Tad Hutchinson's drawings, since they reminded me of They Might Be Giants' Hats T-shirt (which [livejournal.com profile] bethje owns).

I've started coming up with tracklists for the mixes I'm making for [livejournal.com profile] revme and [livejournal.com profile] 3x1minus1. They both know a lot more music than I do, but I'm still hoping I can give them some cool stuff they haven't heard yet. I probably won't be able to get to work on them again until next week, but I just wanted to make it clear that I DO remember I'm supposed to be making these mixes.

I've been getting a LOT of spam recently, much of it with sender names and subject lines like "Returned Mail." The spam filters just keep putting them in the Junk Mail folder, instead of just blocking them totally. I guess that's what you get with free e-mail services.

The German Civilian
Achtung! You are 53% brainwashworthy, 18% antitolerant, and 33% blindly patriotic
Had you lived in Germany in first half of the 20th century, you'd have probably just gone with the flow. Men with guns are surrounding the house next door? The bagel place on the corner's gone? Hmm...whatever.

The data show you're a decent person who's willing to listen to what people of authority tell you. That's what most people are, and in most times and most places, that's ok. But not then.

The sad conclusion: You would've missed your Jewish friends, but you would've done nothing about it. Seriously. Rest assured, you would've forgiven yourself eventually.

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 87% on brainwashworthy

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 13% on antitolerant

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 51% on patriotic

That might be true to an extent, unfortunately. I'm not usually the type to stand up to people, even if I think what they're doing is wrong. On the other hand, I don't know that I'm really as "brainwashworthy" as this result suggests (assuming that means what I think it means).

I would have moved out of Germany before the crap started to happen. Good for me!

P.S. Fix your link. Or not. No big woop.

I guess you're just a better person than I am. Although it looks like neither of us would have actually done anything to help.

Thanks for telling me about the link that didn't work. It took me a little while to figure out what you were talking about.

Yeah, what exactly according to their answers would make a person brainwashworthy? Really now.

Probably automatically thinking your country is best and crap like that.

Yeah, but I don't think I answered very many questions in that quiz from a "my country is best" standpoint. I did say that I would be somewhat more upset at a tragedy happening in my country than one happening far away, but I think that's true for most people. Besides, the important factor there is that it's close by, and nothing to do with the government or national boundaries.

Okay, well, I don't think you're brainwashable either. I flatter myself that I know you better than anyone else does, and I do think you're kind of impressionable in that you tend to agree with or go along with things, if you think the person doing/saying them is cool. To an extent, of course. I want to say I'm the same way, but not as bad as you are. I won't mention what happened to Wally after you read that Oz book where Little Topsy drowned a cat...

Well, there WAS that book where the Glass Cat tried to drown herself in a bowl of lima beans...

No, because I answered like every one of those questions "no"... maybe that means I'm being brainwashed by the rest of the world! I'm suspicious of the question about organized religion, because yes I do belong to an organized religion and I'm very active in it, but I DECIDED to be, and that doesn't mean I never question what the catechism says or anything... stupid religious prejudice....

I tend to think the fact that jingoistic God-and-country types are so vocal in the United States today has led to an unfair association between religion in general and blind patriotism.

Amen!

... huh, funny choice of words, that, wasn't it?

I love the Fellows videos -- and they're by far the best on the tape they came from (a bunch of videos from various Frontier Records bands). I'm assuming the photos are either found or maybe Fellows-relatives. The drawings are totally by Tad, and there's a photograph of Kurt in there, but I don't recognize the other ones. They might just be photos they dug up from somewhere, though.

And I love the instruments in the "Still There's Hope" video. Scott was actually playing that guitar at the show a couple nights ago! He'd also put on a sticker over the brand-name on the guitar head reading "Suck". (He riffed on it being a new Suck guitar from the custom shop.) Unfortunately, the "A Bag Of Poop" is only on the body as a ghost, but if you look carefully, you can still see it.

Was "Still There's Hope" the one where they put fried eggs on a drum, too? I've only seen them each once, so I can't remember for sure.

I think that's "Picture Book", since that's got both eggs and loads and loads of drums.

Also, "YFF Theme" has a ashtray's contents being spooned into pockets.
