Today after work, I got a haircut. I rarely like the way I look right after I get my hair cut. The thing is, it looks fine as soon as they finish, but I start to think less of it once I get back home. I guess this particular one isn't bad, but no one I know except my mom has seen it yet. I wish I were better at describing what I want my hair to look like, but I really don't even know for sure. The best description for a haircut I would want is "shorter, but not stupid-looking." That's kind of vague, though, isn't it? A lot of the time, barbers will give me little boys' haircuts. Really, I sometimes get the idea that hairdressers think I'm younger than I am. Or maybe they're just used to dealing with kids. I sort of got the impression that my hairdresser today was telling me to put my head down and up in the way that some people talk to kids, but maybe that was just my imagination.

Later in the afternoon, I went to the movies to see Revenge of the Sith. Before the movie, that dumb "The 2wenty" thing that they have on in Regal theaters had an advertisement for the new season of The Biggest Loser, which they tried to pass off as "inspirational" or some shit. Yeah, a show that encourages people to go on unhealthy crash diets is an inspiration to us all! On the bright side of the pre-movie crap, there were some interesting previews. I'm definitely going to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when it comes out (I loved the Narnia books when I was young), and I'll probably see that Fantastic Four movie, too. I'm also kind of interested in seeing Batman Begins, although I didn't see a trailer for that. I've never been into comic books, yet I like to watch movies based on them. I'm not sure why.

I'm going to have to go with what seems to be the majority opinion, and say this one was considerably better than either of the other two prequels. Anakin's reasons for finally turning to the Dark Side were pretty believable, and his characterization was a little deeper than the rebel-without-a-cause persona he had in Episode 2. Hayden Christensen's acting seemed less annoying this time, too, although there were still some moments of weak delivery. Maybe I just liked him better this time because I thought Anakin's character was more interesting this time around. I liked his scene with Palpatine at that weird bubble theater, where Palpatine told the story about the old Sith master. Really, though, if all Sith apprentices are determined to overthrow their masters, why do they take apprentices in the first place? Yeah, I get that they plan to use the apprentices for their own ends, and then have them killed when they're done with them, but it still seems overly risky. I guess that's one reason why I'm not a Sith.

I thought General Grievous was kind of an interesting villain. I mean, come on, he's a cowardly, hunchbacked cyborg with apparent sinus problems. As far as Star Wars villains go, he was definitely a better character than Darth Maul or Count Dooku, neither of whom seemed to have much personality beyond "Look at me! I'm evil!" Besides, what kind of a name is "Dooku"?

Not too far into the movie, there was a power failure at the theater, and it took them a few minutes to get it restarted. I don't think I missed anything, but it was the first time I'd ever been in a movie theater when anything like that happened.

Finally, on a semi-related note, I often find myself giving automatic answers to questions service people ask, especially "you, too" in reply to a pleasantry. There have been a few times when I went to the movies, and replied to "Enjoy the show!" with "You, too," which, of course, really doesn't make any sense. Fortunately, I stopped myself from doing that today.

I usually want to say something vague like "Short, but not too short." I've had my friends do it the past year, so I think I've avoided that 10-year-old kid look.

I know I've done the "You, too" thing at a bad time before. I think it was responding to something like "Have a good trip!"

duuuude i do that "you too" thing all the time. People do it to me a lot as well, because i work at a theatre and i used to say that all the time. Now I jsut say "Here you go" when i give people their tickets. which is kinda dumb, but people usually don't respond to it, which is nice.

But if they DID respond, it would sound just as weird.

"Here you go."
"You, too!"

Although I guess they usually WOULD be giving you something (i.e., money), so maybe it DOES make sense.

My first job was at a movie theater. I was an usher, but the job involved more theater-cleaning than actual ushing.

Thanks. I actually came up with the pun while driving one day, and decided I wanted to use it somewhere. The affliction of punsters is that we just HAVE to share our work, even if we realize it isn't actually funny at all.

I've never actually seen Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, by the way. All I know about it is that there's a filibuster scene. Oh, and a giant rabbit who runs a savings and loan. {g}
