Is this seriously what they're going with for the sixth season box set? Not only do I not like it, but it's breaking with the theme they've been using for the other seasons. It doesn't seem to be particularly popular with the alt.tv.simpsons newsgroup, either.
Laura Cantrell is playing in Philadelphia on Monday. Too bad I didn't know about that before I agreed to work that day. :(
The good news is that I finally got my rebate check. I should take that to the bank soon. And get something to eat, also.
Since I can't think of anything else of my own to write about, I'm going to do this survey that
slfcllednowhere did:
1) What is your definition of love? I don't think there really is one definition. The English word "love" can incorporate a lot of different meanings. In general, though, it's made up of really powerful positive feelings for a person or thing.
2) How important is it to you? Pretty important.
3) How do you know when you're in love with someone? Overwhelming feelings for them, I suppose. Or maybe it's one of those things where, when it happens, you just know.
4) Do you believe that certain people are "meant" for each other? To an extent, but I don't think that necessarily means each person has one perfect mate.
5) When did you first "date" someone? I was 22, and had just recently gotten my undergraduate degree.
6) How long of a period of time have you gone without dating someone since? Thankfully, I haven't.
7) How many different persons have you "dated"? Just one.
8) Is love addictive? I would say so.
9) Do you ever stop to wonder if you've loved just for the sake of loving someone? No, but I think that happens to people sometimes.
10) Is gender an important factor to you? Yeah, I'm just not attracted to men in that way.
11) How about intelligence? Definitely. It's one of the most important factors, I think.
12) Sense of humor? Absolutely.
13) Appearance? I think being attracted to someone in a non-physical way usually leads to physical attraction. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and all that.
14) What particular characteristics do you find attractive in a person (all-encompassing; personality wise, talent wise, physically; whatever)? That they like and respect me is definitely an important factor. Similar interests and opinions are also good to have. I have other standards, but I'm not sure whether they couldn't be compromised in certain situations. I mean, to give an example, I wouldn't want to date a smoker, but if I somehow found myself single and I liked someone in every other way, but they smoked, I don't know that that would necessarily be the deal-breaker, you know? It might be a tough call to make. Fortunately, my girlfriend doesn't smoke, so it's never come up.
15) Can love be one-sided and really still qualify as love? Yes.
16) Can love ever die? Is it possible to "fall out of love"? I think so. I also think it's possible to keep loving someone even if you're no longer IN love with them, though.
17) Is love more pain than it's worth in the long run? (AKA is love worth it?) It depends. If it all works out in the end, I think it's definitely worth it. If it doesn't, it often isn't, but I know plenty of people have relationships that don't work out and they still don't regret them, so I'm sure it varies.
18) Have you ever wished for the ability to simply eliminate your feelings for certain people? I don't believe I have, but I can see how it would be a useful power to possess.
19) How far would you go for someone you loved? In terms of distance, or what? I'd definitely go out of my way, but I have my limits, I suppose.
20) How long would you wait for them, if you had to? It really depends on the circumstances.
21) How do you tend to express your affection for a mate/potential mate? Telling her I love her, giving gifts, and doing things for her.
22) What responses do these methods generally yield? Positive ones, usually.
23) Does love ever make you feel foolish? No, but I can see how it could, in certain situations.
24) Are you happier or unhappier without someone to love? I'd be less happy.
25) What're your favourite parts of being in a relationship? Always having someone to turn to is nice. So is the company in general, and the feelings it can give me.
26) Finally, how many times did I use the word love in this thinger? I didn't count.
And now, here are some links that I got from other people's journals. Everyone who's interested in them has probably already seen them, but I'm putting them in anyway.

3x1minus1). Is it just me, or does the design on Gibraltar's flag look like an old video game graphic?

Date: 2005-06-24 05:38 pm (UTC)Also, you could do what George Costanza did: On Monday, throw a big hissyfit rant about how much you hate that place and are quitting, and then storm out, then Tuesday come back as if nothing happened, and if asked, be all "Oh yeah, that was totally a joke -- I got you! You know my sense of humor!"
Also, Gibraltar totally needs to put the Freakin' Duck on there, too. That would make their flag even more awesome.

Date: 2005-06-24 05:45 pm (UTC)Dammit, why couldn't they have waited until, like, season 8 or 9 to do this? So I could be all "FINE, you want to make stupid boxes, _I_ won't buy them!" But since it's still squarely in the Good Era.... damn them!
I suppose there's always the chance it'll look better in person, but....
Ugh. It's funny, because pretty much everywhere I've seen talk about those things (there's a big thread on Criterion Forum too) everyone is basically disgusted. Hopefully people are writing to Fox and letting them know what a colossally bad idea this is and maybe they'll change their mind.
